Lecidella
''Lecidella'' is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae. Taxonomy ''Lecidella'' was circumscribed by German lichenologist Gustav Wilhelm Körber in 1855. It was not widely used until more than a century later, when Hannes Hertel recognized it first as a subgenus of ''Lecidea'', and then a couple of year after as a distinct genus. A phylogenetic analysis of the genus using 11 species (mostly from China) found that ''Lecidella'' species fall into three major clades, which were proposed as three informal groups: ''Lecidella stigmatea'' group, ''L. elaeochroma'' group and'' L. enteroleucella'' group. Description ''Lecidella'' species have a thallus that is crustose, and biatorine, meaning that it resembles the genus '' Biatora''–having a proper exciple, which is not coal-black, but coloured or blackening. It has eight-spored asci of the ''Lecidella'' type. The ascospores are simple and hyaline, while the conidia are curved and threadlike. Morphologically similar ...

Palicella
''Palicella'' is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae. It contains five species. Taxonomy The genus was circumscription (taxonomy), circumscribed in 2014 by lichenologists Pamela Rodriguez-De Flakus and Christian Printzen to accommodate the type species, ''Palicella glaucopa'' (formerly placed in the genus ''Lecidea''), and two closely related species, ''P. filamentosa'' and ''P. schizochromatica''. molecular phylogenetics, Molecular analyses of these lichens revealed a monophyletic clade that is sister clade, sister to representatives from two Lecanoraceae genera, ''Lecanora symmicta'' and ''Pyrrhospora quernea''. Two additional species were transferred to ''Palicella'' from ''Lecanora'' in 2019. Description ''Palicella'' species have biatorine apothecia, which are often darkened (by the biological pigment, pigment cinereorufa-green), an exciple (a saucer-shaped rim around the hymenium) consisting of radiating, narrow hyphae with elongated lumen (anat ...

Myriolecis
''Myriolecis'' is a genus of lichen in the family Lecanoraceae. It was originally circumscribed in 1909 by Frederic E. Clements with ''Myriolecis sambuci'' as the type species. The genus was later reinstated to accommodate the ''Lecanora disperse'' group and ''Arctopeltis''. Molecular phylogenetic data showed that this group of species formed a clade that is genetically distinct from ''Lecanora'', and ''Myriolecis'' was the oldest name available to hold these species. Josef Hafellner
Josef Hafellner (1951– ) is an Austrian mycologist and lichenologist. He was awarded the Acharius Medal in 2016 for his lifetime contributions to lichenology. Before his retirement, he was a professor at the Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz. Hafellner started developing an interest in lichens while he was a student at this institution, studying under Josef Poelt. He earned a master's degree in 1975 and a PhD in 1978, defending a doctoral thesis about the genus ''Karschia''. In 2003, Hafellner received his habilitation. By this time, he had studied with French lichenologist André Bellemère (1927–2014) at Saint-Cloud, where he learned techniques of transmission electron microscopy and how their application in studying asci could be used in lichen systematics. His 1984 work ''Studien in Richtung einer natürlicheren Gliederung der Sammelfamilien Lecanoraceae und Lecideaceae'' has been described as "probably the single most influential publication in lichen systematics in ...

Pulvinora
''Pulvinora'' is a small genus of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae. It has two species. The genus was circumscribed in 2021 by Evgeny Davydov and Lidia Yakovchenko to contain two species formerly in the '' Lecanora pringlei'' species group. The type species of the genus, '' P.  stereothallina'', occurs in the Altai Mountains (Russia), while '' P. pringlei'' is found in North America. Description ''Pulvinora'' species have asci similar to those found in genus ''Lecanora''. Their apothecia are ''mycolecanorine'', meaning they are lecanorine (and so have a thalline margin with an intact cortex), but without photobiont cells in the thalline exciple. The apothecia eventually become convex with an algal layer that is pushed below the hypothecium. The form of the thallus is pulvinate (resembling tiny cushions), with squamules (scales) at the tips of pale brownish, branched structures similar to pseudopodetia. Species * ''Pulvinora prin ...

Bryodina
''Bryodina'' is a genus of two species of crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae. It was circumscribed by Austrian lichenologist Josef Hafellner in 2001 as a segregate of the large genus ''Lecanora''. It is distinguished from the morphologically similar genus ''Bryonora'' by the clearly separated hypothecium and excipulum, and by the thin-walled ascospore An ascus (; ) is the sexual spore-bearing cell produced in ascomycete fungi. Each ascus usually contains eight ascospores (or octad), produced by meiosis followed, in most species, by a mitotic cell division. However, asci in some genera or s ...s. Rhizoplaca
''Rhizoplaca'' is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Lecanoraceae. Japewiella
''Japewiella'' is a genus of lichen in the family Lecanoraceae. It was circumscribed in 2000 by German botanist and lichenologist Christian Printzen as a segregate of the genus ''Japewia''. The genus name of ''Japewia'' was in honour of Peter Wilfrid James (1930 - 2014), who was an English botanist (Mycology and Lichenology). The genus was circumscribed by Christian Printzen in Bryologist vol.102 on page 715 in 1999. The type, ''Japewiella carrollii'', is an oceanic species that occurs in maritime regions of Europe and Macaronesia. Description ''Japewiella'' species are crust lichens that grow on bark. They are characterized by their biatorine apothecia, thick-walled, simple ascospores, eight-spored asci with a conspicuous ''masse axiale'' (similar to asci found in members of genus ''Lecidella''). They have a well-developed excipulum (a saucer-shaped rim around the hymenium) comprising branched and anastomosing, gelatinized hyphae. Species *''Japewiella carrollii'' (Coppins & ...
