''Le Magnifique'' (literally ''The Magnificent''; also known as The Man from Acapulco) is a French/Italian international co-production released in 1973, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jacqueline Bisset and Vittorio Caprioli that was directed by Philippe de Broca. ''Le Magnifique'' is a slapstick spoof of B-series espionage films and novels and the men who write them. Synopsis François Merlin (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a Jean Bruce type writer of pulp espionage novels (he has written 42 so far) and about half of the film plays in his imagination, where he is the world-renowned superspy "''Bob Sinclar''" (The name of the character is never seen written in the film, while some people write his name "Saint-Clair" the way it is pronounced in French sounds like Sinclar; in the English dubbed soundtrack the surname is "St. Cloud".) Philippe de Broca (; 15 March 1933 – 26 November 2004) was a French movie director. He directed 30 full-length feature films, including the highly successful ''That Man from Rio, That Man from Rio (''L'Homme de Rio'')'', ''Le Magnifique, The Man from Acapulco (Le Magnifique)'' and ''On Guard (1997 film), On Guard (Le Bossu)''. Christophe Le Friant (; born 10 May 1969), better known by his stage name Bob Sinclar (), is a French record producer, DJ and remixer. He is the owner of the record label Yellow Productions. Musical career A native of Paris, Le Friant began DJing in the 1980s under the name Chris the French Kiss. During this time he was more influenced by hip hop and jazz music and created music projects such as The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, the latter with an ensemble of musicians and where Le Friant used the alias Desmond K. In 1998 Le Friant adopted name of Bob Sinclar after the titular character from the 1973 film ''Le Magnifique''. He became known for popularising the "French touch" of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. He describes his musical style as inspired by "peace, love, and house music". In Britain, he was known for his portrayal of Hauptmann Franz Ulmann in the television series ''Colditz'' (1972–1974). Biography Meyer was born in Paulpietersburg, Natal Province, Union of South Africa in July 1925. He worked initially as a model where he posed for book covers until a friend in Germany working for an advertising agency lined up his first work as an actor, a television advert for Puschkin Vodka.
