Le Grand Saut
Michel Fournier (born 9 May 1944) is a French adventurer and retired Air Force colonel. He has been involved in planning attempts to break freefall jumping height records, but has yet to be successful in carrying out an attempt. He was born in Treban (Allier), in the Auvergne region of France. Parachuting experience According to the French version of his own biography, he (Michel Fournier) claims to have a total of more than 8,700 jumps in 2011, including a French record of height in freefall at 12,000 m. However, his parachuting experience was disputed by Patrick de GayardonParamag #125, October 1997 and the magazine ''Paramag''. No official institution has ever confirmed one of his titles. Le Grand Saut Fournier has attempted to make record breaking freefall jumps on three occasions. In 1998, the French space agency chose Fournier to conduct a record jump to test the ability of astronauts to survive reentry without a space craft. This project was quickly canceled. Steve Truglia
Steve Truglia (3 October 1962 – 17 November 2016) was a stunt coordinator, stunt performer and action unit director in the UK. He became a TED (conference), TED speaker in 2009. Truglia died while attempting to abseil from a helicopter. Career Truglia served as a reservist in the UK Special Forces for twenty years. Truglia became a professional stuntman in 1996. His motion picture stunt credits included ''Saving Private Ryan'' and two James Bond films. Cheryl Stearns
Cheryl Stearns (born 14 July 1955) is an American skydiver. She won the bronze medal in Women's Overall Individual Style and Accuracy at the XXV World Parachuting Championships in Japan in 2000. Life She received her education from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1985. She would go onto winning the gold medal in the category "Overall, Women" in 1978 and 1994. She holds the record for the most total parachute jumps made by a woman - 21,000 jumps as of June 14, 2019. She also holds the record for most parachute jumps made in a 24-hour period by a woman - 352 jumps from November 8–9, 1995. More recently, Stearns was involved in the StratoQuest project, which endeavored to break Joseph Kittinger's long-standing record for the highest altitude parachute jump ever, with a jump from at least 110,000 feet. Nicholas John Piantanida (August 15, 1932 – August 29, 1966) was an American amateur parachute jumper who reached with his ''Strato Jump II'' balloon on February 2, 1966, flying a crewed balloon higher than anyone before, a record that stood until Felix Baumgartner's flight on October 14, 2012. Early life Piantanida was born August 15, 1932, and grew up in Union City, New Jersey. He had a younger brother, Vern. When Piantanida was 10 years old, he experimented with homemade parachutes, harnessing a stray neighborhood cat to one in a test drop off the five-story apartment building where they lived. When a neighbor informed Piantanida's parents of this, Piantanida tested the next parachute himself, jumping off a lower roof and breaking his arm. Felix Baumgartner
Felix Baumgartner (; born 20 April 1969) is an Austrian skydiver, daredevil and BASE jumper. He is widely known for jumping to Earth from a helium balloon from the stratosphere on 14 October 2012 and landing in New Mexico, United States, as part of the Red Bull Stratos project. Doing so, he set world records for skydiving an estimated , reaching an estimated top speed of , or Mach 1.25. He became the first person to break the sound barrier relative to the surface without vehicular power on his descent.
