The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT) ( th, ลอนเทนนิสสมาคมแห่งประเทศไทย) is the national governing body of tennis in Thailand, formed in 1926 it is one of the oldest organised sports governing body in Thailand. The main aims of the organisation is to develop international level tennis players, improve the infrastructure for tennis and to popularise it in Thailand. History Tennis was introduced in Thailand by Europeans. First Thai who played this game were students came back from Europe after their study. Royal family of Thailand played the major role in the starting development of tennis in Thailand. In 1926 king Prajadhipok founded the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand at Saralom Garden. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. Prajadhipok ( th, ประชาธิปก, RTGS: ''Prachathipok'', 8 November 1893 – 30 May 1941), also Rama VII, was the seventh monarch of Siam of the Chakri dynasty. His reign was a turbulent time for Siam due to political and social changes during the Revolution of 1932. He is to date the only Siamese monarch of the Chakri Dynasty to abdicate. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis.
