Lauren Stephenson
Lauren Stephenson (born July 13, 1997) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Stephenson played her college golf at Clemson University (one year) and the University of Alabama (two years). She also competed at the 2018 Curtis Cup and the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup. Professional career Stephenson turned professional in 2018 and finished T-8 at the LPGA Tour's Q-Series to earn her 2019 tour card. She made 11 cuts in 20 events in 2019 to retain her card. She finished tied for 9th at the 2020 Women's PGA Championship, qualifying her for the 2020 U.S. Women's Open. She is sponsored by Carlisle Companies. Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men. 2018 Curtis Cup
The 40th Curtis Cup Match was played from June 8–10, 2018 at Quaker Ridge Golf Club, Scarsdale, New York. The United States dominated the match, winning by 17 matches to 3 including all 8 of the singles matches. Format The contest was a three-day competition, with three foursomes and three fourball matches on each of the first two days, and eight singles matches on the final day, a total of 20 points. Each of the 20 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole, extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 10 points wins the competition. In the event of a tie, the current holder retains the Cup.
