Lauren Records is an American independent record label founded in Southern California in 2011. The label mostly specializes in indie rock, emo, and other melodic punk rock adjacent genres. History After a few years booking shows and tours for local bands, Lauren Records was formed. The first release was a compilation LP called ''I Think We Should Stay Away From Each Other'' featuring groups like AJJ, Japanther and Joyce Manor. Initially supposed to be a home duplicated cassette with just local friends’ bands, as more bands expressed interest in putting a song on, it went from almost being a CD to just being an LP. As of 2017 the label was still a one person endeavour. Dogbreth
Dogbreth are an American power-pop band formed originally in Phoenix, Arizona in 2009 by main songwriter Tristan Jemsek. The band consists of Jemsek and an ever-revolving lineup of friends. They have released four full length albums, the last couple of which were on Asian Man Records. History Dogbreth, initially spelled Dogbreath, was formed in Phoenix Arizona in 2009. Initially intended to be a pop-punk trio where Jemsek, along with two friends from the downtown Phoenix punk scene - Austin Jackson and Brandon Scott Lemon - would each contribute songs and rotate instruments. Shortly after their first practice however, Jackson and Lemon moved away from the city. Jemsek chose to continue using the name Dogbreath for his songwriting, and in Winter of 2009 released an acoustic CD-R entitled ''Sickly Bright From Love''. Upset (band)
Upset is an American band, formed in 2013. The band originally consisted of Ali Koehler on guitar and lead vocals, Jenn Prince on lead guitar and vocals, Chris Juarez on bass, and Patty Schemel on drums. After the recording and release of their debut album, ''She's Gone'', Prince departed the band to work on other projects, with Lauren Freeman joining the band on lead guitar, and Rachel Gagliardi on bass and vocals. Koehler is the former drummer of the bands Best Coast and Vivian Girls. Schemel rose to prominence as the drummer of Hole and currently also drums for the band Death Valley Girls. Together Pangea (sometimes stylized as together PANGEA) is an American rock band from Santa Clarita, California that is based in Los Angeles, California. The group has released four full-length albums and is currently signed to Nettwerk Records. History Together Pangea was formed in 2009 when longtime friends William Keegan and Danny Bengston met drummer Erik Jimenez at Cal Arts. The group began playing several shows on the California Institute of the Arts campus and as well as many local venues throughout Southern California. Peach Kelli Pop
Peach Kelli Pop is a Canadian garage rock band founded by Allie Hanlon in 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario. Allie Hanlon is the band's sole member and primary songwriter. On tour, Hanlon is accompanied on stage by various friends rather than a dedicated touring band. Peach Kelli Pop's sound has been compared to 1960s girl groups and referred to as power pop. Hanlon cites the anime Sailor Moon as an influence on her style and covers the series' theme song during live performances and on her third album, '' Peach Kelli Pop III'' Hanlon was the drummer for the Canadian punk band The White Wires since their formation in 2007. Katie Ellen
Katie Ellen are an American punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were formed in 2015 by Anika Pyle and Dan Frelly after the dissolution of their previous band Chumped. They have released a 7" single, an EP and an album, ''Cowgirl Blues'' in 2017, all on Lauren Records. History After Chumped parted ways at the end of 2015, Anika Pyle and Dan Frelly formed the initial two-piece incarnation of Katie Ellen. Pyle named the band after the broadcasting name of her great grandmother - a journalist and radio host on KTLN in Colorado who was sued by her station after continuing to use the name in other aspects of her career. While Chumped leant toward pop punk in their style, Pyle has said that for Katie Ellen she was looking more to '60s girl groups, Patsy Cline, and Amy Winehouse for influence.
