Laureano Leone
Laureano Leone (born September 11, 1928) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1990. Background Leone was educated at Liceo Classico "Ovidio" of Sulmona in Abruzzo, and at the Detroit Institute of Technology. He also served as vice-chair of the Ontario Place Corporation, and as president of the National Congress of Italian Canadians and the Canadian Ethnocultural Council. He has received a Gold Medal (Award of Merit) from the city of Toronto for "community involvement", and was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada on April 22, 1982. David Peterson
David Robert Peterson (born December 28, 1943) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician who served as the 20th premier of Ontario from 1985 to 1990. He was the first Liberal officeholder in 42 years, ending the so-called Tory dynasty. Maria Augimeri ( , ; born ) is a Canadian politician. From 1985 to 2018, she served as a local politician in Toronto, holding office as a school board trustee, and as a council member in North York, Metropolitan Toronto, and on Toronto City Council. The 1987 Ontario general election was held on September 10, 1987, to elect members of the 34th Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The governing Ontario Liberal Party, led by Premier David Peterson, was returned to power with their first majority government in half a century, and the second-largest majority government in the province's history. Peterson had successfully managed to govern with a minority in the Legislature by obtaining the co-operation of the Ontario New Democratic Party, led by Bob Rae, in a confidence and supply agreement. It was through the NDP's support that Peterson was able to form a government, even though the Progressive Conservative Party had won a slightly larger number of seats in the previous election. Edward Thomas Philip (March 11, 1940 - January 31, 2022) was a former Canadian politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a New Democratic Party of Ontario, New Democratic Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1975 to 1995 who represented the west Toronto riding of Etobicoke (provincial electoral district), Etobicoke. From 1990 to 1995 he was a cabinet minister in the government of Bob Rae.
