Laura Vinson
Laura Vinson (born May 23, 1947) is a Canadians, Canadian folk and country singer-songwriter.Laura Vinson ''The Canadian Encyclopedia'', July 29, 2007. Prominent in the 1970s and 1980s as a mainstream country performer, in recent years she has concentrated primarily on recording and performing First Nations in Canada, First Nations and Métis people, Métis music. Biography She is of French Canadian, French, English Canadians, English, Cree people, Cree, Iroquois and Cherokee descent. Vinson was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in Brule, Alberta, Brule. She is a direct descendant of Tête Jaune, a fur trader who played a prominent role in the early development of the Canadian West. The ''Edmonton Journal'' is a daily newspaper in Edmonton, Alberta. It is part of the Postmedia Network. History The ''Journal'' was founded in 1903 by three local businessmen — John Macpherson, Arthur Moore and J.W. Cunningham — as a rival to Alberta's first newspaper, the 23-year-old ''Edmonton Bulletin''. The ''Ottawa Citizen'' is an English-language daily newspaper owned by Postmedia Network in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History Established as ''The Bytown Packet'' in 1845 by William Harris (journalist), William Harris, it was renamed the ''Citizen'' in 1851.
