''Laura, una vida extraordinaria'' (English: ''Laura, an Extraordinary Life'', is a Colombian telenovela produced by Ángela Pulido Serrano for Caracol Televisión and distributed by Caracol Televisión Internacional. It is based on some moments of the life of the educator, catholic missionary, Laura Montoya. It stars Julieth Restrepo and Linda Lucía Callejas. Plot It is the story late nineteenth century of Laura Montoya, about her beginning in the city of Jericó on her childhood and youth; It was held in a downtown nuns not being accepted by their families; she learned to read and write and received religious instruction to be educator. Tomás Carrasquilla
Tomás Carrasquilla Naranjo (1858 – 1940) was a Colombian writer who lived in the Antioquia region. He dedicated himself to very simple jobs: tailor, secretary of a judge, storekeeper in a mine, and worker at the Ministry of Public Works. He was an avid reader, and one of the most original Colombian literary writers, greatly influencing the younger generation of his time and later generations. Carrasquilla was little known in his time, according to Federico de Onís, a scholar of Carrasquilla's works. It was only after 1936, when he was already 78 years old, when he was awarded with the National Prize of Literature, that Carrasquilla got a national recognition. Laura Montoya (26 May 1874 – 21 October 1949) – known in religion as Laura of Saint Catherine of Siena – was a Colombian Roman Catholic religious sister and the founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and Saint Catherine of Siena (1914). She was well known for her work with Indigenous peoples and for acting as a strong role model for South American girls.
