Lau Ping-cheung
Kaizer Lau Ping-cheung, Gold Bauhinia Star, GBS (born 3 October 1951, Chiu Chow, Guangdong, China) is a surveyor and was the member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 2000–04 for the Architectural, Surveying and Planning (constituency), Architectural, Surveying and Planning constituency and non executive director of the Urban Renewal Authority. He is the fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. Lau is also a non-official member of the Lantau Development Advisory Committee (LanDAC), which has controversially proposed developing Lantau Island to house up to one million residents (up from the current population of around 100,000). Lau stated that the proposed developments were "relatively small scale and would not pose much conflict with conservation", though the area marked for "conservation" actually includes large-scale commercial development such as the construction of resort hotels at Cheung Sha. The Gold Bauhinia Star (, GBS) is the highest Bauhinia Star rank in the honours system of Hong Kong, created in 1997 to replace the British honours system of the Order of the British Empire after the transfer of sovereignty to People's Republic of China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Hong Kong Institute Of Surveyors
The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS; ) is a surveying organisation in Hong Kong. It was formally established in April 1984 with 85 founding members. It is the only professional surveying body incorporated by ordinance in Hong Kong. As of February 2017, membership exceeds 9,776, with more than 6,288 corporate members. The first president of the institute was Sr Kan Fook-Yee (). Members holding HKIS qualifications may use the following designations after their name: MHKIS (Member), FHKIS (Fellow), AMHKIS (Associate Member). Those with the designation MHKIS or FHKIS are also known as professional surveyors. Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) is a free, non-profit news website based in Hong Kong. It was co-founded in 2015 by Tom Grundy, who believed that the territory's press freedom was in decline, to provide an alternative to the dominant English-language news source, the ''South China Morning Post'', and to cover the pro-democracy movement. The 2012 Hong Kong Chief Executive election was held on 25 March 2012 to select the Chief Executive of Hong Kong (CE), the highest office in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), by a 1,193-member Election Committee (EC) to replace the incumbent Chief Executive. Won by the former non-official convener of the Executive Council of Hong Kong Leung Chun-ying, the election was the most competitive as it was the first election with more than one pro-Beijing candidate since 1996 election. Leung Chun-ying
Leung Chun-ying (; born 12 August 1954), also known as CY Leung, is a Hong Kong politician and chartered surveyor, who has served as vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference since March 2017. He was previously the third Chief Executive of Hong Kong between 2012 and 2017. A surveyor by profession, Leung entered politics when he joined the Hong Kong Basic Law Consultative Committee (HKBLCC) in 1985 and became its secretary-general in 1988. In 1999, he was appointed the convenor of the Executive Council of Hong Kong, a position he held until 2011, when he resigned to run in the 2012 Chief Executive election.
