Latymer Upper School Boat Club
Latymer Upper School Boat Club is a rowing club on the River Thames, based at 40A Upper Mall, Hammersmith, London. History The club belongs to Latymer Upper School. The club won the prestigious Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup at the Henley Regatta in 2013 and 2019 and produced a national champion crew in 2010. Hammersmith
Hammersmith is a district of West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. It is the administrative centre of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, and identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Tideway Rowing Clubs
The Tideway is a part of the River Thames in England which is subject to tides. This stretch of water is downstream from Teddington Lock. The Tideway comprises the upper Thames Estuary including the Pool of London. Tidal activity Depending on the time of year, the river tide rises and falls twice a day by up to 7 m (24 ft). Because the tide goes against the outflow of fresh water from the Thames Basin, it takes longer to subside (6–9 hours) than it does to flow in (4–5 hours). London Bridge is used as the basis for published tide tables giving the times of high tide. High tide reaches Putney about 30 minutes later. Low-lying banks of London are naturally vulnerable to flooding by storm surges. 2010 British Rowing Championships
The 2010 British Rowing Championships were the 39th edition of the National Championships, held from 16–18 July 2010 at the Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. They were organised and sanctioned by British Rowing, and are open to British rowers. The 2010 regatta was notable by the very poor turn out by the country's top clubs, especially in the elite men's events. The men's coxed fours had only three entries, two of which withdrew before the final, leaving London Rowing Club to row over. The same crew also won the men's coxless fours, and the men's open eights which was a straight final, where London combined with four members of the clubs lightweight squad. Jim Clark (rower)
James Clark (born 15 July 1950) is a British rower who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics, in the 1976 Summer Olympics, and in the 1980 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Clark won the coxless fours with Lenny Robertson, Bill Mason and Frederick Smallbone, rowing for the Thames Tradesmen's Rowing Club, at the inaugural 1972 National Rowing Championships. Later in 1972 the same crew was selected for Great Britain at the 1972 Summer Olympics, where they just failed to reach the final, finishing in fourth place in the semi finals of the men's coxless four. Four years later at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal he won the silver medal with the British boat in the eights competition, having also won the world silver medal in eights at the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne.
