Latterman
Latterman is an American semi-active four-piece punk rock band from Huntington, New York, United States. A melodic punk rock band with vocals shared by Phil Douglas and Mattie Jo Canino, their songs often contain political and/or socially conscious lyrics. The band is considered highly influential in the Melodic Punk genre with their album ''No Matter Where We Go...'' being considered a staple of the genre. Phil Douglas and Mattie Jo Canino respectively would go on to form the equally acclaimed Iron Chic and RVIVR. Canino, Douglas and Schramm would go on to form Tender Defender in 2015, considered by many to be an extension of Latterman. Phil Douglas (musician)
Phil Douglas is an American musician and producer. He is best known for being one of the frontmen and guitarists of Latterman as well as the guitarist of Iron Chic. In 2015 Douglas reunited with his Latterman band mates and formed Tender Defender. Latterman and Tender Defender Douglas formed Latterman with former Five Days Late bandmates Mattie Jo Canino and Dan Sposato as well as friend Pat Schramm. The group self-released two demos and their debut ''None of These Songs Are About Girls'' between 1999 and 2000. They released their first official album, ''Turn Up The Punk, We'll Be Singing'' on Traffic Violation Records in 2002 before signing with Deep Elm Records and releasing what's largely considered to be Latterman's magnum opus in ''No Matter Where We Go...'' in 2005 and releasing their final album ''We Are Still Alive'' the following year then breaking up in 2007. Tender Defender
Tender Defender is an American three-piece punk rock band from Huntington, New York, United States. All three members of the band (bassist/vocalist Mattie Jo Canino, guitarist/vocalist Phil Douglas and drummer Pat Schramm) are ex-members of Latterman. Tender Defender is considered by many to be a continuation of Latterman. The band released their self-titled debut on Dead Broke Rekerds on March 3, 2016. Background Following the break-up of Latterman, the members of the band went on to start several new projects- most notably Iron Chic, RVIVR, Laura Stevenson & The Cans and Bridge and Tunnel. Michael "Mike" Campbell (born August 7, 1985) is an American guitarist and bassist, from Huntington Station, New York, best known for his work with Laura Stevenson, and Latterman. RVIVR is an American punk rock band from Olympia, Washington. The band tours frequently and their shows are characterised by energetic performances as well as defense of gender equality. They have released their studio albums and EPs as free downloads on Rumbletowne Records' website. History After the dissolution of New York band Latterman in 2007, Mattie Jo Canino moved to Olympia, Washington and with Erica Freas (vocals, guitar), Kevin Rainsberry (drums), and Nell Tallos (bass) formed RVIVR. Canino had felt that Latterman's political lyrics were being ignored by largely male audiences only interested in moshing. Deep Elm Records is an independent record label releasing albums by bands such as Lights & Motion, The Appleseed Cast, Brandtson, The White Octave, and Planes Mistaken for Stars. Laura Anne Stevenson (born April 25, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter from Long Island, New York, and formerly a keyboard player for the musical collective Bomb the Music Industry! Biography Stevenson was raised in Nassau County, New York. Her grandfather, Harry Simeone, was a successful pianist and composer whose works included "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?". His wife, Margaret McCravy, was a singer for the jazz bandleader Benny Goodman. After leaving home for college, Stevenson began both playing guitar and writing songs.
