Lathial
''Lathial'' ( bn, লাঠিয়াল) is a Bangladeshi film directed by Narayan Ghosh Mita. The film is the first recipient of National Film Awards. This film was awarded with 6 different categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Art Director. Plot Dukhu Mia (Farooque) is a stage performer and his brother Kader Lathial (Anwar Hossain) works for Matbor (Obaidul Haque Sarkar). Dukhu beats Matbor's son Mokbul (A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman) for irritating Banu (Bobita) whom he loves. Matbor complains this to Kader and Kader beat Dukhu for this. This incident becomes the reason of dispute between two brothers. Dukhu leaves home at night and is found by Morol (Narayan Chakraborty) in the bank of river. Dukhu starts a new life there. Banu waits for him and finally one night he comes to meet her. Farooque
Akbar Hossain Pathan (born 18 August 1948), known by the stage name Farooque, is a Bangladeshi actor, politician, businessman, producer, member of parliament and a freedom fighter. He is known as 'Mia Bhai' (respected brother) to mass people. He appeared in over 150 films in a career spanning more than five decades. Most of his films were commercially and critically successful. Rosy Afsary (also Rosy Samad, 23 April 1946 – 9 March 2007) was an actress in the Bangladeshi film industry. She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in its first ceremony in 1975 for her role in the film ''Lathial''. Career Afsary started her career in 1964 through ''Eito Jibon'' film. She appeared in over 200 Bengali films and always played a positive sad role. She also acted in 25 Urdu films. Anwar Hossain (actor)
Anwar Hossain (6 December 1931 – 13 September 2013) was a Bangladeshi actor, best known for playing the role of Siraj ud-Daulah in the Bengali film Nawab Sirajuddaula (1967). He appeared in nearly 500 movies in his 50-year career. He received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film ''Lathial'' (1975) and Best Supporting Actor awards for the films again for ''Golapi Ekhon Traine'' (1978) and ''Dayi Ke?'' The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day.
