Larry Marshall (actor)
Larry Marshall (born April 3, 1943) is an American actor and singer. He is known for his work in musical theatre and film. Early life and education Marshall was born in 1944 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and raised in South Carolina and New York. As a child, he created a doo-wop group called the Dell Chords with other kids in the neighborhood. He later studied at Fordham University, Xavier University, and the New England Conservatory of Music. Career During junior year at the New England Conservatory, Marshall won a chorus role in ''Porgy and Bess'', which he toured internationally. After graduation, he continued to perform in the opera, touring nationally and on Broadway, eventually earning Tony and Drama Desk award nominations for his portrayal of Sportin' Life. Cab Calloway
Cabell Calloway III (December 25, 1907 – November 18, 1994) was an American singer, songwriter, bandleader, conductor and dancer. He was associated with the Cotton Club in Harlem, where he was a regular performer and became a popular vocalist of the swing era. His niche of mixing jazz and vaudeville won him acclaim during a career that spanned over 65 years. Calloway was a master of energetic scat singing and led one of the most popular dance bands in the United States from the early 1930s to the late 1940s. His band included trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie, Jonah Jones, and Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham, saxophonists Ben Webster and Leon "Chu" Berry, guitarist Danny Barker, bassist Milt Hinton, and drummer Cozy Cole. Xanadu (musical)
''Xanadu'' is a musical comedy with a book by Douglas Carter Beane and music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, based on the 1980 film of the same name, which was, in turn, inspired by the 1947 Rita Hayworth film '' Down to Earth''. The title refers to Xanadu, the site of the Mongolian emperor Kublai Khan's summer palace. The musical opened on Broadway in 2007 and ran for over 500 performances. It earned an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Best Book. It was also nominated for Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book.
