Larry Gomes
Hilary Angelo Gomes (born 13 July 1953) is a Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies cricket team, West Indian former cricketer. Cricket career Gomes toured England with the West Indian youth team in 1970 and made his first-class cricket, first-class debut as a left-handed batsman for Trinidad and Tobago against New Zealand cricket team in the West Indies in 1971–72, New Zealand in 1971-72. He played county cricket for Middlesex County Cricket Club, Middlesex between 1973 and 1976. Gomes was a successful batsman for the West Indies, usually playing at number 3. He was part of the West Indies team which beat England 5-0 in West Indian cricket team in England in 1984, 1984, the only time a touring side has won in England by such a margin. Gomes was named man of the match in both the First and Third Tests, in which he scored 143 and 104 respectively. Arima
Arima, officially The Royal Chartered Borough of Arima is the easternmost and second largest in area of the three boroughs of Trinidad and Tobago. It is geographically adjacent to Sangre Grande and Arouca at the south central foothills of the Northern Range. To the south is the Caroni–Arena Dam. Coterminous with Town of Arima since 1888, the borough of Arima is the fourth-largest municipality in population in the country (after Port of Spain, Chaguanas and San Fernando). The census estimated it had 33,606 residents in 2011. In 1887, the town petitioned Queen Victoria for municipal status as part of her Golden Jubilee celebration. The Boxing Day Test match is a cricket Test match held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, involving the Australian cricket team and an opposing national team that is touring Australia during the southern summer. It begins annually on Boxing Day (26 December) and is played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). History By long tradition, a Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and New South Wales had been played at the MCG over the Christmas period dating back as far as 1865. Stephen Howard (cricketer)
Stephen John Howard (born 7 February 1949 in Launceston, Tasmania) is a former Australian cricketer, who played for Tasmania. His career was from 1969 until 1980. His batting style was right-hand bat and his bowling style was right-arm medium. Howard debuted for Tasmania in a limited overs match against Victoria in late November 1969 and scored 39 not out, winning the Man of the Match award. His first-class debut came a month later when Tasmania played a New Zealand XI in Hobart. Stephen Howard's sole first-class century was scored for Tasmania during a match against New South Wales in Hobart during the 1976–77 season. He was an opening batsman for the Tasmanian team which won the Gillette Cup in 1978–79. Howard also played senior football with City-South in the NTFA during the late 1960s. Nelson Cricket Club, based at Seedhill in Nelson, Lancashire, are a cricket club in the Lancashire League. They play at the Seedhill ground in Nelson. Their captain for the 2016 season is Neil Thompson and their professional is Ryan Bailey. Nelson Cricket Club was formed in 1861 when two other local clubs merged. It was a founding member of the Lancashire League in 1892, winning the inaugural championship. The club has gone on to win the league on 21 occasions, the most of any club. The ''Wisden'' Cricketers of the Year are cricketers selected for the honour by the annual publication ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'', based primarily on their "influence on the previous English season". The award began in 1889 with the naming of "Six Great Bowlers of the Year", and continued with the naming of "Nine Great Batsmen of the Year" in 1890 and "6 Great Wicket-Keepers" in 1891. Since 1897, with a few notable exceptions, the annual award has recognised five players of the year. No players were named in 1916 or 1917, as the First World War prevented any first-class cricket being played in England, while in 1918 and 1919 the recipients were five schoolboy cricketers. The Canada national cricket team represents Canada in international cricket. The team is organised by Cricket Canada, which became an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1968. The Carlsberg Group, Carlsberg 1997 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 24 March and 13 April 1997. It was the Cricket World Cup qualification tournament for the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh national cricket team, Bangladesh were the winners of the tournament, defeating Kenya national cricket team, Kenya in the final, while Scotland national cricket team, Scotland won the third place play-off.
