Larry Galizio
Lawrence A. Galizio (born January 27, 1964) is an American politician and academic who served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 35 from 2004 to 2010. Early life and education Galizio was born in Los Angeles, California. Galizio earned a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Arts in Communications Studies from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from Portland State University. Career At the time of his election, Galizio was the Director of the Forensics Program (competitive speech and debate) and a full-time instructor of communications studies, media studies and public speaking at the Sylvania campus of Portland Community College. He continued to teach at PCC during even-numbered years, as the Oregon Legislative Assembly only meets in session during odd-numbered years. Oregon Legislative Assembly
The Oregon Legislative Assembly is the state legislature for the U.S. state of Oregon. The Legislative Assembly is bicameral, consisting of an upper and lower house: the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms; and the House of Representatives, with 60 members elected to two-year terms. There are no term limits for either house in the Legislative Assembly. Each Senate district is composed of exactly two House districts: Senate District 1 contains House Districts 1 and 2, SD 2 contains HD 3 and HD 4, and so on. Astoria, Oregon
Astoria is a port city and the seat of Clatsop County, Oregon, United States. Founded in 1811, Astoria is the oldest city in the state and was the first permanent American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. The county is the northwest corner of Oregon, and Astoria is located on the south shore of the Columbia River, where the river flows into the Pacific Ocean. The city is named for John Jacob Astor, an investor and entrepreneur from New York City, whose American Fur Company founded Fort Astoria at the site and established a monopoly in the fur trade in the early 19th century. Astoria was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on October 20, 1876. The city is served by the deepwater Port of Astoria. Transportation includes the Astoria Regional Airport. Clatsop Community College
Clatsop Community College (CCC) is a public community college with facilities in Astoria and Seaside, Oregon. The college's service area includes Clatsop County, portions of Columbia and Tillamook counties and Pacific and Wahkiakum counties in Washington state. History CCC was established under the direction of the Astoria Board of Education in 1958 and constitutes Oregon's first community college. The original curriculum included two years of classes that could be transferred and two year sequences in Electronics, Business, Automotive and Building Construction. In 1962, Clatsop County residents voted to form a county-wide education district and separate the college from the school district. Metzger is a census-designated place and unincorporated community, in Washington County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 3,765. It is named for Herman Metzger, who platted the community. It is a suburb located within Portland, Oregon. History Herman Metzger platted the community, which was actively marketed from 1908–1909.
