Lapalco
''Lapalco'' is the second album by American singer-songwriter Brendan Benson, released in 2002. The name "Lapalco" is in reference to Lapalco Boulevard, a major highway which runs through Harvey, Louisiana, where Benson spent part of his youth. The street name is an acronym of "LouisianA Power And Light COmpany", the former name of the power company that owned the right of way to the property that the highway was built on. Cover and design was done by Roe Peterhans and photography by Andy Kemp. The song "Tiny Spark" featured on an episode from the fourth series of ''Teachers'', as well as in the feature films ''Along Came Polly'', and ''World's Greatest Dad.'' Brendan Benson (born November 14, 1970) is an American musician and singer-songwriter. He plays guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums. He has released eight solo albums and is a member of the band The Raconteurs. Recording career ''One Mississippi'' Benson was born in Royal Oak, Michigan. His debut album, '' One Mississippi'', was released in 1996 on Virgin Records. The album, which features several contributions from Jason Falkner, failed to sell in sufficient numbers and Benson was subsequently dropped by Virgin. ''Lapalco'' In 2002, the follow-up to ''One Mississippi'' was released, '' Lapalco''. Again, the critical plaudits poured in, but this time the record enjoyed a certain degree of commercial success, selling more than three times as many copies as ''One Mississippi''. The song ''Cold Hands (Warm Heart)'' was featured on the ''Bones'' episode A Boy in the Tree and the Smallville episode "Exposed". Power pop (also typeset as powerpop) is a form of pop rock based on the early music of bands such as the Who, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Byrds. Startime International
Startime International is a record label founded in 2000 by Isaac Green, owned by Sony Music Entertainment, based in New York City, and distributed by Columbia Records. Its roster includes Foster the People, Coin, Natalie Prass, Bully, Made Violent, Lewis Del Mar, and The Big Moon. History Green moved to Brooklyn and out of his apartment started the label, armed with one band, the French Kicks. Startime's first release was the Kick's EP '' Young Lawyer'' in late 2000, and since then the label's roster has grown significantly with bands picked by Green not for their marketability but for sheer talent. Jason Falkner (born June 2, 1968) is an American songwriter, musician, and guitarist who was a member of the bands Jellyfish (band), Jellyfish, the Three O'Clock, and the Grays (band), the Grays. Since 1996, he has released six solo albums, starting with ''Presents Author Unknown''. He is also a session musician and producer who has contributed to dozens of recordings by other bands and musicians.
