Langworthy is an area of Salford, Greater Manchester. Weaste lies to the west of Langworthy and Pendleton to the east. In 2001 the population of Langworthy was 7,104, increasing to 12,935 at the 2011 Census. It was named after Edward Ryley Langworthy, a former mayor of Salford. Governance Pendleton was part of the County Borough of Salford, and in 1974 became part of the metropolitan borough of the City of Salford, and metropolitan county of Greater Manchester. The electoral ward of Langworthy is represented in Westminster by Rebecca Long-Bailey MP for Salford and Eccles. The ward is represented on Salford City Council by three Labour councillors: John Warmisham, Gina Reynolds, and Paul Longshaw. Regeneration In common with other areas of urban Salford, Langworthy experienced long-term population decline in the 1990s with high levels of crime and poverty in the area. The City of Salford () is a metropolitan borough within Greater Manchester, England. The borough is named after its main settlement, Salford. The borough covers the towns of Eccles, Swinton, Walkden and Pendlebury, as well as the villages and suburbs of Monton, Little Hulton, Boothstown, Ellenbrook, Clifton, Cadishead, Pendleton, Winton and Worsley. The borough has a population of 270,000, and is administered from the Salford Civic Centre in Swinton. Salford is the historic centre of the Salford Hundred an ancient subdivision of Lancashire.
