Shire Of West Wimmera
The Shire of West Wimmera is a local government area in the western part of the Wimmera region of Victoria, Australia, located in the western part of the state. It covers an area of and in June 2018 had a population of 3,862. It includes the towns of Apsley, Edenhope, Goroke, Gymbowen, Harrow, Kaniva, Minimay, Nurcoung and Serviceton. It was formed in 1995 from the amalgamation of the Shire of Kaniva and parts of the Shire of Kowree, Shire of Arapiles and Shire of Glenelg. The Shire is governed and administered by the West Wimmera Shire Council; its seat of local government and administrative centre is located at the council headquarters in Edenhope, it also has a service centre located in Kaniva. The Shire is named after the Wimmera region, in which the LGA occupies the western portion. Electoral District Of Lowan
The electoral district of Lowan is a rural Victorian Legislative Assembly (Lower House) electoral district of the Victorian Parliament. It is located within the Western Victoria Region of the Legislative Council. It was initially created by the Electoral Act Amendment Act 1888, taking effect at the 1889 elections. It is the state’s biggest electorate by area, covering about 41,858 km². Lowan includes the country towns of Casterton, Coleraine, Dartmoor, Dimboola, Hamilton, Horsham, Jeparit, Kaniva, Nhill and Rainbow. The current seat was established in 2002 although several previous seats held the same name. The current member is The Nationals' Emma Kealy. Lachie Neale
Lachlan Oliver Neale (born 24 May 1993) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Fremantle Football Club from 2012 to 2018 before being traded to the Brisbane Lions in 2019 where he won the 2020 Brownlow Medal. Early life Originally from a farm in Langkoop, near Apsley, a small town in Western Victoria, Neale moved across the border to another farm near Kybybolite, South Australia at a young age. Nicknamed 'Cowboy', after Kevin Neale, he played various junior sports in Naracoorte including basketball, soccer, cricket and football. Lachie started playing football for Kybybolite in 2004 as a 10-year-old. He kicked 8 goals for the year as his team won the under 14 KNTFL premiership alongside future AFL player Jack Trengove. Harriet 'Hattie' Ngaire Shand (born 11 January 2000) is a field hockey player from Australia, who plays as a defender. Personal life Hattie Shand was born in Naracoorte, South Australia and grew up in Langkoop, Victoria, at the age of two she was diagnosed with autism. She attended Naracoorte Primary School and Naracoorte High School, she currently studies part-time at the University of Adelaide. Career Achievements Shand is a scholarship holder at the South Australian Sports Institute. In 2021, she was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship from the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
