Lance Ryan
Lance Ryan (born 1 May 1971) is a Canadian operatic tenor, who has worked from Germany since 2005. He is known for singing Siegfried in Wagner's ''Der Ring des Nibelungen'', which he performed at opera houses in Europe including the Bayreuth Festival. He performed the title roles of Verdi's '' Otello'' and Britten's ''Peter Grimes''. Career Born in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, Ryan played in a rock band when he went to school and decided early for a career as a musician. He first studied music history and classical guitar at the Douglas College in New Westminster, later at the University of British Columbia. He also began to train his voice there, which he continued in Europe, with the Italian tenors Gianni Raimondi and Carlo Bergonzi among others. White Rock, British Columbia
White Rock is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It borders Semiahmoo Bay to the south and is surrounded on three sides by Surrey. To the southeast across a footbridge lies the Semiahmoo First Nation, which is within the borders of Surrey. White Rock is named for a large white boulder on its beach near the promenade, a glacial erratic that migrated south during the last glaciation. Sebastian Weigle (born 1961, in East Berlin) is a German conductor and horn player. He is currently ''Generalmusikdirektor'' of the Oper Frankfurt and principal conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Biography Weigle is a nephew of the conductor and music educator Jörg-Peter Weigle and the brother of the late violist Friedemann Weigle of the Artemis Quartet. ''Fidelio'' (; ), originally titled ' (''Leonore, or The Triumph of Marital Love''), Op. 72, is Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera. The German libretto was originally prepared by Joseph Sonnleithner from the French of Jean-Nicolas Bouilly, with the work premiering at Vienna's Theater an der Wien on 20 November 1805. The following year, Stephan von Breuning helped shorten the work from three acts to two.
