Lamu–Garissa–Isiolo Road
Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo Road, is a road in Kenya, and is part of the Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo-Lokichar Road, which itself is a component of the Lamu Port and Lamu-Southern Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET) Project. Location The road starts in the port city of Lamu and proceeds in a northwesterly direction through the town of Bura, Tana River County, (not to be confused with ''Bura, Garissa County'') and continue on to the town of Garissa. At Garissa, the road continues its northwesterly direction to Mado Gashi. Here it takes a southwesterly direction through Garba Tula, to end at Isiolo, a total distance of approximately . The approximate coordinates of the road, immediately north of the town of Garissa are:0°22'14.0"S, 39°42'37.0"E (Latitude:-0.370556; Longitude: 39.710278). LAPSSET
Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor project, also known as Lamu corridor is a transport and infrastructure project in Kenya that, when complete, will be the country's second transport corridor. Kenya's other transport corridor is the Mombasa - Uganda transport corridor that passes through Nairobi and much of the Northern Rift. Some basic LAPSSET infrastructure has been built (a police station and harbor office in Lamu and lengthening of the Lamu airport runway). The construction of LAPSSET's main components (ports, pipelines, roads, railways) is currently ongoing with construction of the first berth at Lamu Port completed in October, 2019 (situation as per October 2019).. Although the project is not formally stalled, its short to medium term success looks increasingly unlikely. Garba Tula (also spelled Garbatulla) is a town in Isiolo County, Northern Kenya. The town has an urban population of about 5,50 In 2007 it was up-graded to a District status. But with the new administrative sub-divisions of Kenya, Garba Tula is a sub-county of Isiolo County, as well as an administrative ward. The First Settlement of Indians was back in 1900. In the 1940s Garba Tulla was a very small village and only had three shops on the main road. Mr. Joseph Onyango became the first District Commissioner on 17 November 2007.
