Lal Haveli (film)
''Lal Haveli '' (The Red Bungalow) is a Bollywood film. It was released on 15 December 1944. The film was directed by K. B. Lall, for whom it was a debut directorial venture. Lall had started his career playing a villain in Sohrab Modi's ''Bharosa'' (1940), and as a "storywriter" with the V. C. Desai directed film ''Radhika'' (1941), finally producing ''Savera'' (1942) directed by V. C. Desai, before turning his hand at direction with ''Lal Haveli''. The film's story was written by R. S. Chowdhury with dialogues by Wajahat Mirza and Agha Jani Kashmiri. Music was composed by Mir Saheb with lyrics by Shums Lacknowi. Faredoon Irani was the chief cinematographer. The cast included Noor Jehan, Surendra, Yakub , Kanhaiyalal, Ulhas, Vatsala Kumtekar and Baby Meena Kumari playing the role of the younger Noor Jehan. Wajahat Hussain Mirza Changezi ( hi, वजाहत मिर्ज़ा; 20 April 1908 – 4 August 1990) was an Indian screenwriter and film director who penned the dialogues of some of the most successful films in India during the 1950s and 1960s, best known for ''Mughal-e-Azam'' (1960) and the Academy Award-nominee, ''Mother India'' (1957). Mirza won Filmfare Best Dialogue Award twice, in 1961 for ''Mughal-e-Azam'', and in 1962 for ''Ganga Jamuna''. He also won the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards for Ganga Jamuna. He was born in Sitapur, a small town 89 kilometers from Lucknow. While studying at Government Jubilee Inter College, Lucknow Mirza became acquainted with cinematographer Krishan Gopal of Calcutta, and worked as his assistant. Anmol Ghadi (English translation: Precious Watch ) is a 1946 Indian drama film directed by Mehboob Khan, starring Surendra, Suraiya and Noor Jehan. The film was a musical hit and still remembered for its music by Naushad, with hits like "Aawaaz De Kahaan Hai", "Jawaan Hai Mohabbat Haseen Hai Zamana" and "Mere Bachpan Ke Saathi Mujhe Bhool Na Jaana". Vatsala Kumtekar
Sasirekha Parinayam is an Indian folktale based on oral traditions popular in Telugu States. While it uses characters who appear in the ''Mahabharata'', the story is not present in the epic. The plot concerns the marriage of Sasirekha, called Vatsala in some versions, the daughter of Balarama, to Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna. It echoes the marriage of Arjuna to Subhadra in the ''Mahabharata''. The story is popular in performances, including Tholu bommalata (shadow puppets), Yakshagana, and Kuchipudi. By early 1950s, Surabhi theatre troupes made the folktale popular across Telugu-speaking regions. The story was adapted to cinema multiple times. According M. L. Surendra (11 November 1910 – 11 September 1987; Surendra Nath) was an Indian singer-actor of Hindi films. Known by his mononym, Surendra was born and educated in Punjab to be a lawyer by profession. He came to Bombay to become a singer on the recommendation of a Delhi distributor and his friends. He was "picked" by Mehboob Khan whom he met at Sagar Movietone, to sing and act in films as an alternative to the then Calcutta-based singer-actor, K. L. Saigal. Surendra started his career with his debut starring role in ''Deccan Queen'' (1936), directed by Mehboob Khan. ''Bharosa'' (Trust) is a 1940 Hindi/Urdu social melodrama film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi. Made under the Minerva Movietone banner, the story and lyrics were by Lalchand Bismil, with cinematography by Y. D. Sarpotdar. The music was composed by G. P. Kapoor, and the cast included Chandra Mohan, Sardar Akhtar, Mazhar Khan, Sheela, Maya Devi and Eruch Tarapore.
