Wim Umboh
Ahmad Salim (26 March 1933 – 24 January 1996), better known by his birth name Wim Umboh but also known by the Chinese name Liem Yan Yung, was an Indonesian director who is best known for his melodramatic romances. Born in North Sulawesi, Umboh was orphaned at the age of eight and later adopted by a Chinese-Indonesian doctor. After high school, he moved to Jakarta and found work at Golden Arrow Studios as a janitor and, later, translator. In 1955 he made his screen debut as a director with ' (''Behind the Walls''). During his career, which spanned more than forty years, Umboh directed close to fifty movies, which garnered 29 Citra Awards from the Indonesian Film Festival. Marjolein Tambayong (August 22, 1937 – June 23, 2022), better known by her stage name Rima Melati or by her nickname Lientje, was an Indonesian actress, model, and singer. She appeared in close to one hundred feature films, including works by Wim Umboh, Sjumandjaja, and Teguh Karya. Rachmat Kartolo (13 March 1938 – 18 September 2001) was an Indonesian actor and singer. Early life Rachmat Kartolo was one of five children born to Kartolo and Roekiah, two film actors active with Tan's Film, on 13 March 1938. After Roekiah's death, Kartolo brought the children to his hometown at Yogyakarta. In the city, the Indonesian capital during the later days of the Indonesian National Revolution, Rachmat lost one of his siblings and, in 1949, his father. Muhammad Idris Sardi (June 7, 1938 – April 28, 2014) was an Indonesian violinist and composer. Idris Sardi was born on June 7, 1938 to Mas Sardi, Sardi, an Indonesian composer, and Hadidjah, an Indonesian actress. Idris learned to play the violin when he was six years old. Background After single-play anthology series went off the air, the BBC introduced several showcases for made-for-television, feature length filmed dramas, including ''ScreenPlay''. Farouk Achmad (4 June 1938 – 13 April 2003), often credited as Farouk Afero, was a Pakistani-born Indonesian film actor. After making his feature film debut in 1964, he rose to fame in 1970 with '' Bernafas dalam Lumpur'' (''Breathing in Mud''). Afero ultimately appeared in more than sixty films. Boes Boestami (Perfected Spelling: Bus Bustami; 30 December 1922 – 11 September 1970) was an Indonesian journalist and film actor. He was mostly known for his comedic roles. Biography Boestami was born in Batavia, Dutch East Indies (now Jakarta, capital of Indonesia), on 30 December 1922. As a child he went to a Europeesche Lagere School (European school), later studying at a trade school. Boestami eventually began a career as a journalist, often covering film and entertainment news under the pen name "Bintang Ketjil" ("Little Star"). He was soon involved in the film industry as an actor, making his debut with a supporting role in ''Pelarian Pagar Besi''.
