Boes Boestami
Boes Boestami (Perfected Spelling: Bus Bustami; 30 December 1922 – 11 September 1970) was an Indonesian journalist and film actor. He was mostly known for his comedic roles. Biography Boestami was born in Batavia, Dutch East Indies (now Jakarta, capital of Indonesia), on 30 December 1922. As a child he went to a Europeesche Lagere School (European school), later studying at a trade school. Boestami eventually began a career as a journalist, often covering film and entertainment news under the pen name "Bintang Ketjil" ("Little Star"). He was soon involved in the film industry as an actor, making his debut with a supporting role in ''Pelarian Pagar Besi''. He soon appeared in films by various production houses, including Borobudur Film, Bintang Surabaja, Asiatic Film Company, and Golden Arrow. Batavia, Dutch East Indies
Batavia was the capital of the Dutch East Indies. The area corresponds to present-day Jakarta, Indonesia. Batavia can refer to the city proper or its suburbs and hinterland, the Ommelanden, which included the much-larger area of the Residency of Batavia in the present-day Indonesian provinces of Jakarta, Banten and West Java. The founding of Batavia by the Dutch in 1619, on the site of the ruins of Jayakarta, led to the establishment of a Dutch colony; Batavia became the center of the Dutch East India Company's trading network in Asia. These photographs are also taken in formal studio settings and venues of opportunity such as film stars' homes, film debut events, and commercial settings. The photos were taken by studio photographers for promotional purposes. Such stills consisted of posed portraits, used for public display or free fan handouts, which are sometimes autographed. ''Rajuan Alam'' (Perfected Spelling: ''Rayuan Alam'', released internationally as ''A House, a Wife, a Singing Bird'') is a 1956 semi-documentary directed by Miriam Bucher and starring and Lies Noor. Plot Amin (), a village youth, attempts to earn a living in the city. However, he is unsuccessful, and thus he returns to the village to live with his wife, Marlina (Lies Noor). Before they can marry, however, Marlina falls ill with malaria. When she is cured, they are able to marry. Production ''Rajuan Alam'' was written by Padma T Astradiningrat and directed by Miriam Bucher as a joint production of Produksi Film Negara (PFN) and the United States Information Service (USIS). The film was shot in Eastmancolor by cameramen Lie Gie San and Bert Sarodjo, making it the first PFN production to be shot in colour. Sinematek Indonesia
Sinematek Indonesia, or Sinematek for short, is a film archive located in Jakarta. Established in 1975 by Misbach Yusa Biran and Asrul Sani, the archive was the first in Southeast Asia, and remains the only one in Indonesia. It is home to roughly 2,700 films, mostly Indonesian, and also houses numerous reference works. Since 2001 it has been underfunded. Description Sinematek is located in the Hajji Usmar Ismail Center, a five-story building located on Rasuna Said Street in Kuningan, South Jakarta, and managed by the Usmar Ismail Foundation; it has held this location since 1977. The Sinematek offices are on the fourth floor, while a library containing films and film history is located on the fifth floor; a storage area is found in the basement.
