Sahir Lakhnavi
Sahir Lakhnavi (born Syed Qaim Mehdi Naqvi; 6 September 1931 25 November 2019) was a Pakistani classical Urdu poet and the 20th century's last marsiya writer of Pakistan. He wrote gazals, nazms, qataat-i-tareekh, particularly marsiya and qasida throughout his literary career. He wrote twenty books on multiple subjects, including linguistics, poetry, prosody, seerat, history, theology and tafseer. He also appears to have written to the Persian literature, but his primary contribution appears in Urdu. He was born as Syed Qaim Mehdi Naqvi on 6 September 1931 in Karachi, India. He was the grandson of Fazil Lakhnavi, an Islamic scholar and son of Nawab Syed Akhtar Hussain Masood Lakhnavi who belonged to Ghufran Ma’ab family. He did his matriculation in 1937 from his hometown, and later attended a government college in Ludhiana for higher education. Arzoo Lakhnavi
Arzoo Lakhnavi (born Syed Anwar Hussain; 16 February 1873 17 Apr 1951), also known by the honorary title Allamah Arzoo Lakhnavi, was an Urdu poet and lyricist. He wrote almost in every genre of Urdu poetry such as marsiya, qasida, mathnawi, rubaʿi, naʽat, chronogram inscriptions and particularly gazals and lyrics throughout his life, and by the latter wrote radio plays and scripts for several uncertain Urdu films. He was born to a poet Mir Zakir Hussain 'Yas' as Syed Anwar Hussain around 16 February 1873 in North-Western Provinces, British India (in modern-day Lucknow, India). Munavvar Lakhnavi
Munavvar Lakhnavi (Urdu: منوّر لکھنوی ) was an Urdu poet who gained repute as a poet and also as a translator. Biography Munavvar Lakhnavi (1897-1970) was the takhallus of Bisheshwar Prasad who was born in Lucknow in 1897 in a family of Urdu, Sanskrit and Persian litterateurs. His father, Dwarkaprasad Ufuq (1864-1913) was a prolific writer of prose and poetry. He was educated in Lucknow and joined Railway Accounts office in 1913 at Lucknow. He was transferred to Lahore in 1927 and then to Delhi where he retired from service in 1957. After retirement, he decided to stay in Delhi where he purchased a house and founded a publishing house – Adarsh Kitab Ghar. He died in Delhi in the year 1970 aged 73 years. Behzad Lucknavi
Behzad Lucknavi (born Sardar Hasan Khan; 1 January 1900 10 October 1974) was a Pakistani Urdu poet and lyricist. He primarily wrote naats and ghazals and sometimes radio plays for the All India Radio, Delhi and later for Radio Pakistan after immigrating to Pakistan. Prior to his migration from India, he used to participate in mushairas at an apparent age of twelve after Zulfiqar Ali Bukhari introduced him to the All India Radio. Hamzanama
The ''Hamzanama'' (Persian/Urdu: ''Hamzenâme'', Epic of Hamza) or ''Dastan-e-Amir Hamza'' (Persian/Urdu: ''Dâstâne Amir Hamze'', "Adventures of Amir Hamza") narrates the legendary exploits of Amir Hamza, or Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, an uncle of Muhammad. Safi Lakhnavi
Safi Lakhnavi (Urdu: صفی لکھنوی, Hindi: सफ़ी लखनवी ), born Syed Ali Naqi Zaidi (2 January 1862 – 1950), was a prominent Urdu poet. He was born in the city of Lucknow, India in a family of Zaidi Syeds who claimed direct descent from Husain ibn Ali. His father Syed Fazal Husain was appointed an ''Ataliq'' (tutor) to Prince Suleiman Qader Bahadur, son of Nawab Amjad Ali of Awadh. He was educated at the Canning Collegiate at Lucknow and served in the Revenue Department of the Government. He began writing verse at the young age of 13 under the pseudonym of ''Safi'' without any guidance from an ''Ustad'' (teacher), when having an ''Ustad'' was the norm. Abdul Hayy Lucknawi Firangi Mahali (1264 - 1304 A.H./1848 - 1886 C.E) was an Indian Islamic scholar of Hanafi school of Islamic thought. Lineage Abdul Hayy was born in Banda, India, in 1847. He was a descendant of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. Early life After his father's death, he studied some books in mathematics under his father's tutor, Muhammad Niamatullah. He taught for a while in Hyderabad. Subsequently, he left for Lucknow where he remained for the rest of his life. Asrar-ul-Haq (19 October 1911 – 5 December 1955), better known as Majaz Lakhnawi, was an Indian Urdu poet. He is known for his romantic and revolutionary poetry. He composed ''ghazals'' and ''nazms'' in Urdu language, Urdu. He was the maternal uncle of poet and screenplay writer Javed Akhtar and Indian-American psychoanalyst Salman Akhtar. Salik Lucknawi (16 December 1913 – 4 January 2013) was the '' nom de plume'' of Shaukat Riaz Kapoor, an Indian Urdu poet and journalist. He was a recipient of the civilian honour of the Padma Shri.
