According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Only Highway * Arkansas Highway 178 School District Lakeview is in the Mountain Home School District. The site of the proposed town was first settled in the mid-1880s and was called Trimble Flat, for the Trimble family, first settlers on the flat fertile plateau overlooking the White Rivaer. When the school, Baxter County District No. 25, and the post office were established, they were called Amos. The community, church and cemetery remained Trimble Flat. Highway 178 (AR 178, Ark. 178, and Hwy. 178) is a designation for two east–west state highways in the Ozark Mountains. One segment begins near Flippin and runs east across Bull Shoals Dam to downtown Mountain Home. A second segment begins in eastern Mountain Home and runs east to Lake Norfork. Both highways are maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT). Lake View is a city in Phillips County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 443 at the 2010 census. Because there is also a Lakeview in Baxter County, many residents want to rename Lakeview to "Lake Helena". The original settlement name was "Turkey Scratch" from the 1850s to the official declaration of the town's namesake was in the 1920s. When the town was re-established in 1937, Lake View became one of three communities in Arkansas to be reserved for black farm families by the Resettlement Administration.
