Lakeland Baptist Church
Lakeland Baptist Church is a Baptist church located in Lewisville, Texas. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. History During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Jim Angel, a resident of Denton who worked at Southwestern Bell in Dallas, noticed that several new houses were being built on the west side of Interstate 35E in Lewisville (at that time, the majority of the small community was located on the east side). The new subdivision was named Lakeland for its proximity to nearby Lewisville Lake. Angel believed that God was leading him to start a new church in the area to reach the residents of the growing subdivision. Using their property as collateral, Angel and his wife Darlene purchased a plot of land at 397 South Stemmons Freeway, which today remains the church's address. Lewisville ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, predominantly within Denton County with a small part lying within Dallas County. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a Christian denomination based in the United States. Denton is a city in and the county seat of Denton County, Texas, United States. Interstate 35E (I-35E), an Interstate Highway, is the eastern half of I-35, where it splits to serve the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. I-35 splits into two branch routes, I-35W and I-35E, at Hillsboro. I-35E travels north for , maintaining I-35's sequence of exit numbers. It travels through Dallas before rejoining with I-35W to reform I-35 in Denton. Lewisville Lake
Lewisville Lake, formerly known as Garza-Little Elm Reservoir, is a reservoir in North Texas (USA) on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Denton County near Lewisville. Originally engineered in 1927 as Lake Dallas, the reservoir was expanded in the 1940s and 1950s and renamed Lewisville Lake. It was built for flood control purposes and to serve as a water source for Dallas and its suburbs, but residents also use it for recreational purposes. The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (SBTC) is an association of conservative Southern Baptist churches in Texas. It is supportive of the national Southern Baptist Convention. North Texas Baptist Association
The North Texas Baptist Association (NTBA) is an association of conservative evangelical Christian churches in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area. NTBA was formed in March, 2000 by seven local churches that were aligned with the conservative Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (SBTC), and who wanted to form a local association of churches for regional religious proselytism throughout North Texas. NTBA is currently headquartered in Lewisville, Texas on the campus of Lakeland Baptist Church, and has friendly cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and SBTC. The cooperative efforts of NTBA currently support several mission churches in the DFW area, pregnancy care centers, and various other Christian ministries throughout North Texas.
