Lake Öreg
Lake Öreg (meaning "old lake") ( hu, Öreg-tó) is a lake near Tata, Hungary. Location The lake is situated in the middle of the town of Tata. Adjoining the South-east quarter of the lake is a wooded area. It is fed by the Által-brook ( hu, Által-ér) from the south-east, which then leaves it in a Northerly direction through the town until it eventually reaches the Danube. On the lake's shores lie Tata Castle Tata Castle, built at the mid 14th-century on the northern tip of Lake Öreg (Old Lake), is one of the jewels of Tata, Hungary. Tata, Hungary
Tata (german: Totis; la, Dotis) is a town in Komárom-Esztergom County, northwestern Hungary, northwest of the county town Tatabánya. Location Tata is located in the valley between the Gerecse Mountains and Vértes Mountains, some from Budapest, the Hungarian capital city. By virtue of its location, it is a railway and road junction. Motorway M1 (E60, E75) from Vienna to Budapest passes through the outer city limits, and the railway line Budapest–Vienna goes through the city. Demographics According to the 2001 census, the town has 23,937 inhabitants: 93.3% Hungarians, 1.6% Germans, 0.6% Roma, 0.2% Slovaks and 6.5% other. Danube
The Danube ( ; ) is a river that was once a long-standing frontier of the Roman Empire and today connects 10 European countries, running through their territories or being a border. Tata Castle
Tata Castle, built at the mid 14th-century on the northern tip of Lake Öreg (Old Lake), is one of the jewels of Tata, Hungary. Its blooming can be dated to the reign of Sigismund of Luxembourg (r. 1433–1437) and Mátyás Hunyadi (r. 1458–1490) as the summer resort of the king and a favoured residence. It was burnt by Habsburgs and later renovated. The walls of the castle reflect the marks of romantic style which is due to the Esterházy family who used to live here.
