Lake Macquarie Transport Interchange (also known as the Glendale Transport Interchange and Pennant Street Bridge) is a planned transport interchange in the suburbs of Glendale and Cardiff in the City of Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia. Cardiff is a small town in the Lake Macquarie LGA of New South Wales, Australia. It is located west-southwest of Newcastle. Main Northern Railway Line
The Main North Line (also known as the Great Northern Railway) is a major railway in New South Wales, Australia. It runs through the Central Coast, Hunter and New England regions. The line was the original main line between Sydney and Brisbane, however this required a change of gauge at Wallangarra. As of 1988, the line closed progressively north of Armidale with services gradually withdrawn till 2004, with the main route between Sydney and Brisbane now the North Coast line. Description of route The line starts as a branch off the Main Suburban line at Strathfield in Sydney. The line heads north as a quadruple track electrified line to Rhodes, crossing the John Whitton Bridge over the Parramatta River as a double track line. Stockland Glendale (previously known as Stockland Super Centre Glendale) is a large shopping centre located in the suburb of Glendale in the City of Lake Macquarie. It is located on Lake Road on a parcel of land, and primarily serves the Lake Macquarie region to the southwest of Newcastle. Transport Stockland Glendale has bus connections to Belmont, Cardiff, Charlestown, Kotara, Newcastle, Seahampton, Swansea, Toronto, Warners Bay, Wallsend and West Wallsend, as well as local surrounding suburbs. Cardiff Locomotive Workshops
The Cardiff Locomotive Workshops (now known as the Cardiff Maintenance Centre) is a rail yard and rolling stock facility located between Cockle Creek and Cardiff stations near Newcastle, on the Main North railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The site is currently occupied by Downer Rail, where rolling stock is assembled, maintained and stored. Early northern workshops The Hunter River Railway Company established meagre maintenance facilities adjacent to its line at its eastern terminus, near the current day Civic station.
