Lake Geneva Region
The Lake Geneva region or Lemanic Region (french: Région lémanique, german: Genferseeregion) is the common name of the region of Switzerland encompassing the cantons of Geneva, Vaud and Valais. It is one of the NUTS-2 regions of Switzerland. Lemanic Arc The Lemanic Arc (French: ''Arc lémanique'') is the region on the north side of Lake Léman, stretching out from Geneva to Lausanne and Montreux. Its parts are Geneva, La Côte, Lausanne, Lavaux, La Riviera and le Chablais. Health Valley
The Health Valley covers the Western Switzerland region, where the life sciences sector extends from Geneva to Bern, including the seven cantons of Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Jura, Neuchâtel, Valais and Vaud. This cluster presents a critical mass of 1,000 companies, research centers and innovation support structures, representing today more than 25,000 employees. The Health Valley strives to animate the life sciences ecosystem of the region, by establishing thriving bridges between its ambassadors. The name of the Health Valley is inspired by that of Silicon Valley in California, United States (where the focus is on information technology). Chablais () was a province of the Duchy of Savoy. Its capital was Thonon-les-Bains. Chablais was elevated to a duchy in 1311 by Henry VII, Holy Roman Emperor. Lavaux
Lavaux () is a region in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, in the district of Lavaux-Oron. Lavaux consists of 830 hectares of terraced vineyards that stretch for about 30 km along the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva. Although there is some evidence that vines were grown in the area in Roman times, the actual vine terraces can be traced back to the 11th century, when Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries controlled the area. It benefits from a temperate climate, but the southern aspect of the terraces with the reflection of the sun in the lake and the stone walls gives a mediterranean character to the region. The main wine grape variety grown here is the Chasselas. World Heritage site Under cantonal law, the vineyards of Lavaux are protected from development.
