Lake Butig National Park
Lake Butig National Park is a protected area of the Philippines located in the municipality of Butig, Lanao del Sur in Mindanao Island. The park spans an area of 68 hectares comprising Lake Butig and its surrounding forest. It was declared a national park in 1965 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4190. Topography and ecology Lake Butig lies in the southern part of Lanao del Sur at the foot of the Butig Mountain range. It is located specifically at the Barangay of Pindolonan, Butig, Lanao del Sur. At 500 meters above sea level, the lake is a magnet for visitors seeking to cool off where a swimming resort has been set up owing to its invigorating climate. Marawi, Lanao Del Sur
Marawi, officially the Islamic City of Marawi (Maranao: ''Inged a Marawi''; fil, Islamikong Lungsod ng Marawi), is a 4th class component city and capital of the province of Lanao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 207,010 people. Marawi is located upon the shores of Lake Lanao. It is primarily inhabited by the Maranao people. The city is also called the "summer capital of the south" due to its higher elevation and cooler climate, a nickname it shares with Malaybalay. On May 23, 2017, the city suffered extensive damage during the Battle of Marawi as militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant invaded the city and engaged in a massive urban gunfight. Mount Makaturing
Mount Makaturing, also known locally as Palaw a Magatoring, is a stratovolcano on Mindanao island in the Philippines. It is found in the province of Lanao del Sur (particularly in the town of Butig) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Makaturing has an elevation of and a base diameter of . It is part of a string of volcanoes called the Central Mindanao Arc. The Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanology Program, citing the ''Catalog of Active Volcanoes of the World'' (Neumann van Padang, 1953), suggests that some eruptions were actually those of neighboring Ragang volcano. Latukan
Latukan volcano is a potentially active stratovolcano in the centre of a chain of young E-W-trending stratovolcanoes in northwest Mindanao, southeast of Lake Lanao, province of Lanao del Sur, island of Mindanao, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The Global Volcanism Program records its elevation as at a latitude of 7.654°N and longitude of 124.438°E. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) lists Latukan as an inactive volcano, without any indication as to why it considers Latukan to be inactive. Lake Lanao (Maranao: ''Ranao'' or ''Ranaw'') is a large ancient lake in the province of Lanao del Sur, Philippines.
