Laila Fawzi
Laila Fawzi ( arz, ليلى فوزي, Laylā Fawzī; 1923 - January 12, 2005), also spelt as Leila Fawzi and Layla Fawzy, was an Egyptian actress and model. She was one of the pioneers of Egyptian cinema and starred in over 85 films throughout her career. In 1940, she was crowned Miss Egypt. Personal life Fawzi was born in Turkey to Egyptian parents. Her father owned fabric stores in Cairo, Damascus and Istanbul. She won Miss Egypt contest in 1940 and was awarded a small role in the Egyptian movie ''Wives Factory'' in 1941. She married three times; firstly to fellow Egyptian actor Aziz Osman, followed by Anwar Wagdi, and then Galal Moawad Jalal (Arabic: جلال) is a masculine given or family name. Miss Egypt ( ar, ملكة جمال مصر) is a national beauty pageant in Egypt. Since 2016, Miss Egypt has been directed by Dr. Amaal Rezk. History Early years The first Miss Egypt contest was held in 1927. Charlotte Wassef won the competition in 1934 and was also crowned '' Miss Universe 1935'' in Brussels. The only Miss Egypt winner that held the title of Miss World was Antigone Costanda, who was ''Miss Egypt 1954'' and ''Miss World'' the same year. Since 1986, the pageant has been sponsored by the hair care company Pantene. Many of the winners have found notable careers in television. Aziz M. Osman (born Abdul Aziz Othman @ Yusof; 2 October 1962) is a Singaporean-born Malaysian actor, director, screenwriter and producer. He is currently the director general of his own production company, Ace Motion Pictures Sdn Bhd. Career Aziz started his acting career as an infant in 1963 film, ''Ibu Ayam'' directed by Salleh Ghani. In 1976, at the age of 13, he alongside his three siblings took a role in 1976 film, ''Sayang Anakku Sayang'' directed by Jamil Sulong and is a remake of a 1970 Shaw Brothers film, ''The Younger Generation''. The film earned Aziz won the Best Child Star at the 22nd Asia Pacific Film Festival. His directing career begin in 1990 when he directed his debut film, ''Fenomena'' which starring Ramona Rahman and M. Nasir. Anwar Wagdi
Anwar Wagdi or Wagdy ( ar, أنور وجدي, ; 11 October 1904 – 14 May 1955), born Anwar Wagdi Yehia El Fattal, was an Egyptian actor, screenwriter, director and producer. Life Anwar was born in the Cairo district of El Daher, Cairo. His father was of Syrian descent. Anwar's Egyptian mother, Muhiba El-Rikaby, was from Cairo. Anwar Wagdy was married to Egyptian actresses Elham Hussein, Leila Mourad (three times), and Laila Fawzi. He died at 50 in Sweden while seeking treatment for polycystic kidney disease. Career Anwar Wagdy began his acting career as an extra in 1922 in the Youssef Wahbi Theatre Company's production of Julius Caesar. He quickly leaped to stardom and played leading roles in and/or directed 92 Egyptian films between the 1932 and 1955.
