Lago Verde, Chile
Lago Verde is a Chilean commune located at the headwaters of the Cisnes River in Coyhaique Province, Aisén Region. The commune is administered by the municipality of Lago Verde, the principal settlement. History At the time of European arrival, the indigenous people in the area were the Tehuelche, who were nomadic hunter gatherers, however, the area has been occupied since at least 2,800 BP, and likely back as far as the end of the last ice age (11,400 BP). Some Europeans settled in the area in the early twentieth century, beginning in 1914 there were settlers in the upper reaches of the Cisnes River. The grant for the estancia "Sociedad Ganadera Cisnes" of over was made in the early 1920s. It encompassed almost all of what is now the La Tapera district. Nonetheless, the area was not formally organized until the establishment of a settlement, Villa La Tapera, on 26 December 1926. Grünsee (Pflersch)
The Grünsee ( it, Lago Verde) lies in the most western part of the Pflersch Valley (left side valley of the Eisack river below Brenner) 1,680 metres above sea level. To get to the lake, one has to go by car until ''Ochsen alpine hut'' and then on foot straight ahead app. 11 km in western direction to the Lake. The road is not accessible in winter for cars. As a typical mountain lake the water is very clean (A grade quality). It remains even in summer cold. The Lake was created as remnant, when the ''Feuerstein Ferner'' had drawn itself. The Frasassi Caves (Italian: ''Grotte di Frasassi'') are a karst cave system in the municipality of Genga, Italy, in the province of Ancona, Marche. They are among the most famous show caves in Italy. History The caves, discovered by a group of Ancona speleologists in 1971, are situated south of Genga, near the civil parish of San Vittore and the Genga-San Vittore railway station ( Rome-Ancona line). Rich in water, the cave system is particularly well endowed with stalactites and stalagmites.
