__NOTOC__ Laguna Verde (Spanish for "green lake") is a salt lake in an endorheic basin, in the southwestern Altiplano in Bolivia. It is located in the Sur Lípez Province of the Potosí Department. It is close to the Chilean border, at the foot of the volcano Licancabur. Geography The Laguna Verde is a lake at elevation. It covers an area of and has a depth of , and a narrow causeway divides it into two parts. It is at the southwestern extremity of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and Bolivia itself. It has mineral suspensions of arsenic and other minerals which renders colour to the lake waters. Its color varies from turquoise to dark emerald depending on the disturbance caused to sediments in the lake by winds. In the backdrop of the lake there is the inactive volcano Licancabur of in elevation, which is a nearly perfect cone. Laguna Verde is a Chilean town in the commune of Valparaíso in Valparaíso Province, Valparaíso Region. The town itself is small and quiet, feeling quite removed from hustle and bustle of nearby Valparaiso. Attractions include secluded beaches and miles of old logging roads perfect for mountain biking. Cerro Laguna Verde is one of the many stratovolcanoes that integrate a -long chain east of the Gran Salar de Atacama in Chile's II Region. The mountain is located west of Acamarachi (also known as Cerro de Pili) and north of the Aguas Calientes (Simbad) and Lascar stratovolcanoes. The age of the volcano, which rises above the surrounding terrain is not known for certain. Earlier it was considered Pleistocene-Holocene. At some point in the past, the northern flank of the volcano collapsed. The resulting debris avalanche formed a lake in the Quebrada Portor from water dammed by the debris. Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant (LVNPP) is located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, in Alto Lucero, Veracruz, Mexico. It is the only nuclear power plant in Mexico and produces about 4.5% of the country's electrical energy. It consists of two units GE Boiling Water Reactors (BWR-5) each one with installed capacity of 682 MW using low enriched uranium (3%) as fuel. Unit-1 (U-1) started its operation on July 29, 1990. Unit-2 (U-2) started its operation on April 10, 1995. Initial architects in 1975 for the plant were Burns and Roe Inc and later Ebasco Services designed and supervised the project. The steam turbine and other components were manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric. The plant is owned and operated by Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), the national electric company owned by the Mexican government.
