Lae F.C.
Lae FC was a short-lived semi-professional soccer club founded in 2013 and dissolved in 2014, based in Lae, Papua New Guinea. The club took part in only one edition of the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League, in 2014, where they finished the regular season in third place before reaching the Grand Final. Against Hekari United, they trailed 0–3 before crowd trouble caused the game to be abandoned after 70 minutes. The club were eventually awarded the runner-up position, as their regular season record was inferior to that of their opponents. Lae () is the capital of Morobe Province and is the second-largest city in Papua New Guinea. It is located near the delta of the Markham River and at the start of the Highlands Highway, which is the main land transport corridor between the Highlands Region and the coast. Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium
The Sir Ignatius Kilage Sports Stadium is an association football stadium located in Lae, Papua New Guinea. It was named after Sir Ignatius Kilage who was the fourth Governor General of Papua New Guinea. The stadium, which is part of the larger Sir Ignatius Kilage Sports Complex, features 500 grandstand seats plus an additional 1,000 bench seats. The KPHL National Soccer League, also known as the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited National Soccer League for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of professional soccer in Papua New Guinea. The 2014 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League season, known as the Telikom NSL Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the eighth edition of the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League. The title was won by Hekari United, who won their eighth and, to date, final title, after going unbeaten throughout the season and being awarded the title in the final after the match against Lae FC was abandoned due to crowd violence. Teams There were seven teams in the competition, one fewer than the previous season. The previous season's runners-up FC Port Moresby were excluded from the competition after failing to submit the necessary paperwork on time, with the club taking the PNGFA and the NSL to court over the whole procedure.
