Lady Is The Boss
''Lady Is The Boss'' is a 1983 Shaw Brothers kung fu-comedy film directed by Lau Kar-leung and starring Kara Hui. Plot Wang Hsieh Yun (Lau Kar Leung) is the current teacher of a kung fu school in Hong Kong. However it is the 80’s and people are not interested in "old school" kung fu anymore. He receives a letter telling him to pick up the schools boss from the airport which much to his surprise is Chan Mei Ling (Kara Hui). Mei Ling is the daughter of the schools' master, thus making her the "de facto" boss. She is very much Americanized and begins making changes at the school and taking in her father's students–Li Hon Man (Gordon Liu), Cheuk Jin Shing ( Hsiao Ho), Wong Yuen Shuei (Robert Mak Tak Law), Ng Ming Fat (David Cheung Chin-pang) and Ah Wing (Wong Yue)–off the street, discos, and bars, which angers the traditionalist Wang. Lau Kar-leung
Lau Kar-leung (28 July 1934 – 25 June 2013), was a Chinese actor, filmmaker, choreographer, and martial artist from Hong Kong. Lau is best known for the films he made in the 1970s and 1980s for the Shaw Brothers Studio. His most famous works include ''The 36th Chamber of Shaolin'' starring Gordon Liu as well as ''Drunken Master II'' starring Jackie Chan. History Lau began learning kung fu when he was nine years old, under strict tutelage from his father. Before becoming famous, Lau worked as an extra and choreographer on black and white Wong Fei-hung movies. He teamed up with fellow Wong Fei-hung choreographer on the 1963 Hu Peng-directed wuxia film ''South Dragon, North Phoenix''. Their collaboration would continue on until the mid-1970s. Mona Fong Yat Wah
Mona Fong Yat-wah, Lady Shaw (27 July 1934 – 22 November 2017) was a Hong Kong film and television producer and production manager. She was born Li Menglan in Shanghai. Career Fong achieved fame as one of the most popular nightclub singers and recording artists in Singapore and Hong Kong in the 1950s, especially singing English covers of top hits of the time. She married media mogul Sir Run Run Shaw (his second marriage) and became Deputy Chairman and General Manager of Shaw Brothers Studio and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). Fong produced over a hundred films, the final one of which was ''Drunken Monkey'' in 2002. Effective 1 January 2009, she was appointed General Manager of TVB. Fong retired from TVB in 2012.
