Ladies In Black (film)
''Ladies in Black'' is a 2018 Australian comedy-drama film directed by Bruce Beresford. Starring Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, Julia Ormond, Ryan Corr and Shane Jacobson, the film is based on the 1993 novel ''The Women in Black'' by Madeleine St John, and tells the story of a group of department store employees in 1959 Sydney. The film was released on 20 September 2018. Plot Lisa is hired as a new assistant at Goode's department store in Sydney during the 1959 Christmas season. She makes friends with Fay, who is initially wary of immigrants, Patty, who seeks more attention from her husband, and Magda, an immigrant from Slovenia who introduces her to her other European friends. Bruce Beresford
Bruce Beresford (; born 16 August 1940) is an Australian film director who has made more than 30 feature films over a 50-year career, both locally and internationally in the United States. Beresford's notable films he has directed include ''Breaker Morant'' (1980), ''Tender Mercies'' (1983), ''Crimes of the Heart'' (1986) and the multiple Academy Award winning ''Driving Miss Daisy'' (1989). ''The Women in Black'' is a 1993 novel by Australian author Madeleine St John. It is her first novel, and is the only one she set in Australia. Plot summary The novel tells the story of a group of department store employees in 1959 Sydney. It is set primarily during the Christmas rush period when young school leaver, Lisa, joins the women. Adaptations In 2015, the novel was adapted to a stage musical, re-titled '' Ladies in Black'', by Carolyn Burns with music and lyrics by Tim Finn. Hungarian Diaspora
Hungarian diaspora ( hu, magyar diaszpóra) is a term that encompasses the total ethnic Hungarian population located outside current-day Hungary. There are two main groups of the diaspora. The first group includes those who are autochthonous to their homeland and live outside Hungary since the border changes of the post-World War I Treaty of Trianon of 1920.During World War II, some areas were regained by Hungary, but lost with the 1947 Treaty of Paris The victorious forces redrew the borders of Hungary so that it runs through Hungarian majority areas.
