Laban Hrad Vidyapith
Laban Hrad Vidyapith is a higher secondary school, situated in Salt Lake City, Bidhannagar, Kolkata, India. Founded on 21 January 1980, the school is affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. In 1986, the school added a new building and extended to Higher Secondary (class XI and XII) in Science and Arts streams. History The school was inaugurated by Prasanta Sur, the minister-in-charge for Salt Lake Plan. The first secretary of the advisory board of the school was Mr. Subhas Chakraborty, the Honorable Minister of Youth Welfare and Sport Ministry of West Bengal government. The school first opened as a co-educational school. In 1981, the school was split up, and the campus at Block AD was converted into boys' only, and a new campus was opened at Block EC, also in Sector I, Saltlake City, as Laban Hrad Vidyapith for Girls. Bidhannagar, Kolkata
Bidhannagar is a planned urban agglomeration and city and a municipal corporation of the North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is in Greater Kolkata region and also a part of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). Prasanta Sur
Prasanta Sur ( bn, প্রশান্ত শূর; 1 January 1923 – 29 February 2008) was the convenor of the Kolkata district Left Front committee and became the first Left Front Mayor of Kolkata during 1969. A member of the state committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sur was the urban development minister in the first Left Front government in 1977. Later, he also held key portfolios like health, refugee rehabilitation etc. He died on 29 February 2008, aged 85, after suffering from age-related problems. Family background and early life Sur's father was Rai Saheb Nagendra Nath Sur, a member of the landed gentry of (erstwhile) east Pakistan. Subhas Chakraborty
Subhas Chakraborty (18 March 1942 – 3 August 2009) was an Indian politician belonged to Communist Party of India (Marxist) who served as Minister of Transport, Sports and Youth Services in the Government of West Bengal. Early life Chakraborty was born in Bengali Hindu Brahmin family of 1942 in Dhaka, British India to Hemchandra Chakraborty and Labonyoprobha Debi. His political career began from his residence in Dum Dum. It was a refugee colony. Subhas Chakraborty studied at Dum Dum Motijheel College, which was then affiliated with the prestigious University of Calcutta.
