La Union's 2nd Congressional District
La Union's 2nd congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of La Union. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1916 and earlier in the Philippine Assembly from 1907 to 1916. The district consists of the southern municipalities of Agoo, Aringay, Bagulin, Bauang, Burgos, La Union, Burgos, Caba, La Union, Caba, Naguilian, La Union, Naguilian, Pugo, La Union, Pugo, Rosario, La Union, Rosario, Santo Tomas, La Union, Santo Tomas, and Tubao. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress of the Philippines, 19th Congress by Dante S. Garcia of the People's Reform Party (PRP). The House of Representatives of the Philippines ( fil, Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan ng Pilipinas, italic=unset, ''Kamara'' or ''Kamara de Representantes'' from the Spanish language, Spanish word ''cámara'', meaning "chamber") is the lower house of Congress of the Philippines, Congress, the bicameral legislature of the Philippines, with the Senate of the Philippines as the upper house. The lower house is usually called Congress, although the term collectively refers to both houses. Members of the House are officially styled as ''representative'' (''kinatawan'') and sometimes informally called ''congressmen'' or ''congresswomen'' (''mga kongresista'') and are elected to a three-year term.
