La Sirenita
Guadalupe Buye Peña (born March 17, 1962) is a Mexican former '' luchadora'', or female professional wrestler who was primarily active from 1976 until 1996. She worked under the ring name La Sirenita, Spanish for "Little Mermaid". She was once married to a professional wrestler known as "Crazy 33" and together they have a son that also became a professional wrestler under the name Enigma. During her career, Buye won several championships, including the Distrito Federal Women's Championship, the Mexican National Women's Championship on two occasions, and the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship alongside La Rosa. She started her career as an ''enmascarada'', or masked wrestler but lost her mermaid inspired mask to Viuda Negra I in 1984. René Guajardo
Manuel Guajardo Mejorado (January 4, 1933 – May 11, 1992), better known as René Guajardo, was a Mexican professional wrestler. Professional wrestling career René Guajardo was born in Villa Mainero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. At the age of 16, Guajardo decided to become a professional luchador. He joined a wrestling gym in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where he was trained by Gerardo Rodríguez Pérez (Zandor wrestler), Chema López and Rolando Vera. René made his debut in 1954 against Oso Negro. His hard work and determination caught the eye of EMLL recruiters who offered him a contract with their promotion company. Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. Mexican National Women's Championship
The Mexican National Women's Championship ( es, Campeonato Nacional Femenil) is a women's professional wrestling championship for female wrestlers sanctioned by the ''Comisión de Box y Lucha Libre Mexico D.F.'' (the Mexico City Boxing and Wrestling Commission). While the Commission sanctions the title, it does not promote the events in which the Championship is defended. The championship is currently promoted by the Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling based promotion ''Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre'' (CMLL) and has in the past also been promoted by the Mexican-based ''Asistencia Asesoría y Administración'' (AAA) promotion. The Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship (Spanish: ''Campeonato Nacional Femenil de Parejas'') is a Mexican national tag team professional wrestling championship that is run exclusively for female wrestlers. The championship is sanctioned and controlled by the ''Comisión de Box y Lucha Libre México D.F.'' (Mexico City Boxing and Wrestling Commission), and is currently promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Because it is a professional wrestling championship, the winner of the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship is decided by a scripted ending to a match rather that by actual competition. A wrestling mask is a fabric-based mask that some professional wrestlers wear as part of their in-ring persona or gimmick. Professional wrestlers have been using masks as far back as 1915 and they are still widely used today, especially in Lucha Libre in Mexico. History At the 1865 World's Fair, Theobaud Bauer debuted the mask, wrestling as "The Masked Wrestler" in Paris, France. He continued wrestling using the mask throughout France as part of a circus troupe in the 1860s before moving on to the United States in the early 1870s. Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre Co., Ltd. (CMLL; , "World Wrestling Council") is a ''lucha libre'' professional wrestling promotion based in Mexico City. María Dolores González (born March 2, 1959) is a Mexican professional wrestler, known by her ringname Lola González, who has competed in the Universal Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Association for over three decades. At one time one of the most popular female '' tecnicos'' in Mexico, she dominated the UWA World Women's Championship during the mid-to late 1980s holding the title a record four times.
