Joe Arroyo
Álvaro José Arroyo González (also known as Joe Arroyo or El Joe; 1 November 1955 – 26 July 2011) was a Colombian salsa and tropical music singer, composer and songwriter. He was considered one of the greatest performers of Caribbean music in his country and Latin America. Life and career 1955–1971: Early life Joe Arroyo was born and raised in the neighborhood Nariño in Cartagena. Arroyo's singing career began very early, when at the age of eight he sang in brothels in Tesca, a red-light zone in his hometown. In the beginning he sang with groups like "Los Caporales del Magdalena", "Manuel Villanueva y su Orquesta", "La Protesta" and "Super Combo Los Diamantes", in 1971 he recorded with "La Promiscua". La Noche (Joe Arroyo Song)
"La Noche" (translation "the night") is a salsa song written and performed by the Colombian singer Joe Arroyo. ''Billboard'' called it a "groundbreaking song" that made Arroyo "a groundbreaking force in Colombian salsa." It was selected by Hip Latina in 2017 as one of the "13 Old School Songs Every Colombian Grew Up Listening To"; the publication wrote that the song was "most likely part of any Colombian's perpetual playlist." Viva Music Colombia rated the song No. 50 on its list of the 100 most important Colombian songs of all time. Arroyo's original version peaked at number eight in Panama. The song was covered in merengue by Puerto Rican singer Elvis Crespo on his third studio ''Wow! Flash'' (2000). Catemu is a city and commune in the San Felipe de Aconcagua Province of central Chile's Valparaíso Region. Geography Catemu spans an area of . Demographics According to data from the 2002 Census of Population and Housing, the Catemu commune had 12,112 inhabitants; of these, 6,706 (55.4%) lived in urban areas and 5,406 (44.6%) in rural areas. At that time, there were 6,172 men and 5,940 women. The population grew by 7.2% (817 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. The New Chilean Cumbia also known as New Chilean Cumbia Rock (Spanish: ''Nueva cumbia chilena'', ''Nueva cumbia rock chilena'') is a subgenre of cumbia music that originated in Chile in the early 2000s and that largely surfaced in mainstream media in 2009 and 2010. In contrast to older cumbias the lyrics of New Chilean Cumbia deals more with urban life and combines aspects of rock, hip hop and a wide variety of Latin American genres like Andean music, salsa, the son, reggae, boleros, ska, Latin-African music, diablada and even folklore from the Balkans, like the Klezmer, and Gipsy music.
