''La Federación'' ('' en, The Federation'') was a periodical publication published in Barcelona during the Sexenio Democrático. History The newspaper arose from a group of people originally linked to federal republicanism, who promoted it based on an agreement at the 1868 Barcelona Workers' Congress to create a press organ of the Federal Center of Workers' Societies of Catalonia. Its first issue appeared on August 1, 1869, presenting itself as a weekly publication, which would appear every Sunday. From July 23, 1870, it became the organ of the Barcelona federation of the International Workingmen's Association (IWA) and had a socialism, socialist ideology, close to the thought of the Russian anarchist Mikhail Bakunin, whose ideas the paper diffused throughout Spain, in addition to publishing texts by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon. A weekly newspaper is a general-news or Current affairs (news format), current affairs publication that is issued once or twice a week in a wide variety broadsheet, magazine, and electronic publishing, digital formats. Similarly, a biweekly newspaper is published once every two weeks. José GarcÃa Viñas
José GarcÃa Viñas (Málaga, 1848 - Melilla, 1931) was an Andalusian anarchist physician, member of the Spanish Regional Federation of the International Workingmen's Association (FRE-AIT, 1870–1881) and of Mikhail Bakunin's International Alliance of Socialist Democracy (1869–1872). Biography When he was studying medicine in Barcelona, José GarcÃa Viñas joined the Barcelona nucleus of the International Workingmen's Association, formed at the beginning of 1869 as a result of the trip of the Italian anarchist Giuseppe Fanelli to Spain. He was one of the delegates of the 1870 Barcelona Workers' Congress from which the FRE-AIT emerged and participated in the drafting of several opinions. Cuenca () is a city and municipality of Spain located in the autonomous community of Castilla–La Mancha. It is the capital of the province of Cuenca. Etymology Its name may derive from the Latin ''conca'' meaning "river basin", referring to the gorge of the rivers Júcar and Huécar. It may also be derived from the now-ruined Arab castle, Kunka. Espasa Calpe
Espasa-Calpe was a Spanish publisher which existed during the 20th century. It was created in 1925, by the union of Editorial Calpe, founded by Nicolás MarÃa de Urgoiti in 1918, and Editorial Espasa, founded by José and Pau Espasa i Anguera in 1860. The publisher, named Espasa-Calpe, was owned by Papelera Española. It became one of the most important publishers in Spain. The publisher later founded the Enciclopedia Espasa. Espasa-Calpe opened Casa del Libro in Gran VÃa, Madrid, which continued with the direction of Enciclopedia Espasa.
