Løren Line
The Løren Line ( no, Lørenbanen) is a line of the Oslo Metro. Located entirely underground, it runs through the neighborhoods of Sinsen, Løren, Norway, Løren and Økern in Bjerke (borough), Bjerke, creating a connection between the Ring Line (Oslo), Ring Line with the Grorud Line. The line features one station, Løren (station), Løren. It is served by metro trains which run down the Grorud Line and then connect to the Ring Line. It allows for higher capacity on the metro as more passengers a transported via the Ring Line instead of through the congested Common Tunnel. Oslo Commuter Rail ( no, Lokaltog Østlandet) is a commuter rail centered in Oslo, Norway, connecting the capital to six counties in Eastern Norway. The system is operated by Vy (formerly NSB) and its subsidiary Vy Gjøvikbanen, using Class 69 and Class 72 electric multiple units (EMU). A single-track railway is a railway where trains traveling in both directions share the same track. Single track is usually found on lesser-used rail lines, often branch lines, where the level of traffic is not high enough to justify the cost of constructing and maintaining a second track. Advantages and disadvantages Single track is significantly cheaper to build and maintain, but has operational and safety disadvantages. For example, a single-track line that takes 15 minutes to travel through would have capacity for only two trains per hour in each direction safely. AS Oslo Sporveier is a defunct municipal owned company responsible for public transport in Oslo, Norway. It was created in 1924 to take over the city's two private tram companies. In 1927 its started with bus transport, including from 1940 to 1968 trolleybuses. Since 1966 rapid transit and from 1985 water buses have also been operated by the company. It was split into two separate companies in 2006; Kollektivtransportproduksjon took over the operation while Oslo Public Transport Administration (who retained the Oslo Sporveier brand) was responsible for buying the services, fare regulation and marketing. The Østensjø Line ( no, Østensjøbanen) is a line on the Oslo Metro which runs from Brynseng to Mortensrud. It further shares track with the Lambertseter Line along the section from Tøyen to Brynseng. The line runs through the primary residential areas of Bøler, Østensjø and Søndre Nordstrand. The line is served by Line 3 of the metro. The first section of the line was built by Akersbanerne as part of the Oslo Tramway and connected to the VÃ¥lerenga Line at Etterstad. Majorstuen (station)
Majorstuen is a subway station on the Oslo Metro and a tram stop on the Briskeby Line of the Oslo Tramway. It is located in the Majorstuen neighborhood in the Frogner borough. Majorstuen is shared by all the subway lines, and, being located just after the tunnel entrance, it is the only such station not located underground. Majorstuen was originally the end station for Holmenkollbanen, and remained so until the tunnel to Nationaltheatret Station was completed. After Majorstuen the subway lines split up in three directions.
