The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. The Legislative Assembly of Bahia ( pt, Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia) is the unicameral legislature of Bahia state in Brazil, it's currently based on Administrative Center of Bahia in Salvador. It has 63 state deputies elected by proportional representation. The legislative power of Bahia began with the General Council of the Province in 1828, it had 21 members and had only the function of suggesting laws for the General Assembly of the Empire. Antônio José Imbassahy da Silva, or simply Antônio Imbassahy, (born 12 March 1948) is a Brazilian politician and electrical engineer, former governor of Bahia and former mayor of Salvador. Elected federal deputy by the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), da Silva was chosen leader of the party in the Chamber of Deputies in December 2015 and took office on 2 February 2016. Cachoeira (Portuguese, meaning waterfall) is an inland municipality of Bahia, Brazil, on the Paraguaçu River.
