Léon La Lune
''Léon la lune'' ( eng, Leon the Moon) is a 1956 French short documentary film directed by Alain Jessua. The film won the Prix Jean Vigo in 1957. The film documents an old drifter in Paris in the ''poetic realist'' style. Jessua was inspired by Jean-Paul Clébert's book ''Paris Insolite'' (1952) and decided to make a film about a ''clochard'' or tramp. The poet and novelist Robert Giraud, an expert on the Parisian underworld, introduced Jessua to Léon la Lune, a vagrant whose real name was Leon Boudeville, and suggested that they follow him from day to night. After completing the film Giraud showed it to the poet and screenwriter Jacques Prévert who wrote an introduction and asked Henri Crolla to contribute some music to the film. Alain Jessua
Alain Jessua (16 January 1932 – 30 November 2017) was a French film director and screenwriter. He directed ten films between 1956 and 1997. He worked as assistant director for Jacques Becker on the set of ''Casque d'or'', with Max Ophüls for '' Madame de...'' and ''Lola Montès'' and with Marcel Carné on ''Wasteland''. ''Léon la lune'' his first short film won the influential Prix Jean Vigo in 1957. He directed first feature film in 1963 ''La vie à l'envers'' that won Best First Film at Venice Film Festival, in 1964. His 1967 film '' Jeu de massacre'' was entered into the 1967 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay. His 1979 film '' The Dogs'' was entered into the 11th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1984 Alain Jessua directed '' Frankenstein 90'', inspired by Mary Shelley's book, with Eddy Mitchell in the role of the creature. Robert Giraud
Robert Giraud (November 21, 1921 – January 17, 1997), was a French journalist, poet and lexicographer. He is the author of over 30 books and subject of the 2009 biography ''Monsieur Bob'' by Olivier Bailly. Early years Robert Giraud lived his childhood and youth in Limoges. He followed his education in lycée Gay-Lussac and began to study law. He was arrested and imprisoned by the Nazis only to escape the death sentence thanks to the liberation of the city by the forces of Colonel Georges Guingouin. In 1944 he became editor of the newspaper ''Unir (Unite)'', join the French Resistance and went to Paris with the editorial team which included the journalist and future editor René Rougeri.
