Lázně Toušeň
Lázně Toušeň (formerly Toušeň; german: Tauschim) is a spa market town in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,500 inhabitants. Geography Lázně Toušeň is located about northeast of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Central Elbe Table within the Polabí lowland. The market town is situated on the left bank of the Elbe River, opposite the confluence of the Elbe and Jizera (river), Jizera rivers. In the western part of the municipal territory are two artificial lakes created by flooding sandstone quarries: Mezi mosty and Malvíny. History The first written mention of Toušeň is from 1293. In the 17th century, it was owned by the Waldstein family. In 1777, part of the market town's land was separated and the new village of Káraný was founded on it. Městys
Městys (or, unofficially or obsolete, městečko (literally "small town")), translated as "market town", is a status conferred on certain municipalities in the Czech Republic, lying in terms of size and importance higher than that of simple ''obec'' (municipality), but lower than that of ''město'' (city, town). Historically a ''městys'' was a locality which had the right to stage livestock markets (and some other "extraordinary" and annual markets), and it is therefore translated as "market town". The term went out of official use in Czechoslovakia in 1954, but was reintroduced in the Czech Republic in 2006. As of September 2020, there are 228 municipalities on which the status of ''městys'' has been re-admitted. In all cases, these are municipalities that have requested the return of their former title.
