László Andor
László Andor (born 3 June 1966) is a Hungarian economist and the Secretary General of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS). From 2010 to 2014 he was Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in the Barroso II administration of the European Commission. From 2005 to 2010 he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), representing the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia. He studied Economics at the Corvinus University of Budapest (then called the Karl Marx University), and later became Associate Professor of Economic Policy at the same institution. He also studied at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and in 1993 earned a master's degree in Development Economics at the University of Manchester. European Commissioner For Employment, Social Affairs And Inclusion
The Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights is a member of the European Commission. The position was previously titled as the ''Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility'' until 2019. Since 2024 it is titled ''Commissioner for Skills, Education and Culture, Quality Jobs, and Social Rights.'' The portfolio is responsible for matters relating to employment, social affairs, skills, and labour mobility. Tibor Navracsics (born 13 June 1966) is a Hungarian lawyer and politician, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade from June to September 2014. He previously served as Minister of Administration and Justice between 2010 and 2014. He is a member of the Christian Democratic People's Party and was the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport in the Juncker Commission. This is a list of European commissioners by member state of the European Union. Each name is a member of the European Commission and hold a specific portfolio within the college, led by the president of the European Commission. They operate similarly as European-level equivalents to Minister (government), national government ministers. Each member state of the European Union has the right to a single commissioner (before the Barroso I Commission in November 2004, the five largest states—France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom—were granted two) and appoints them in consultation with the president. The accession of Romania and Bulgaria in 2007 raised the number of commissioners from 25 to 27, and after the accession of Croatia in 2013 the number of commissioners raised to 28. László Kovács (politician)
László Kovács (; born 3 July 1939) is a Hungarian politician and diplomat, former European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union. He was the foreign minister of Hungary twice, from 1994 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2004. He also served as chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) from 1998 to 2004. Studies László Kovács was born in Budapest on 3 July 1939. He finished at Petrik Lajos Technical School of Industrial Chemistry in 1957. From 1957 to 1966 he worked as a chemical technician. Prague European Summit
The Prague European Summit is a platform for a regular high-level strategic debate on the future of the European Union and other European issues. It is the only platform of this kind focused on the European Union in Central Europe, Central and Eastern Europe. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the two legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. Neven Mimica (; born 12 October 1953) is a Croatian politician and diplomat who has been serving as European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development in the Juncker Commission since 1 November 2014. He was previously the European Commissioner for Consumer Protection in the Second Barroso Commission from July 2013 until November 2014 and was in that regard the first European Union Commissioner from Croatia following its accession to the European Union. Prior to his role in the European Union, Mimica also held a number of governmental posts in Croatia. ''Eszmélet'' ('', Consciousness'') is a Hungarian quarterly magazine for social critique and culture. Each issue contains essays on current theory, history, an exchange of topics, as well as one or two book reviews. History The magazine was founded in the summer of 1956 Aurél Bernáth, Tibor Déry, Gyula Illyés, Zoltán Kodály, and Georg Lukacs, and István Mészáros – a disciple of Lukács - was asked to be acting editor. However, because of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, only two "emigrant" editions were published in London, in 1958. "Eszmélet" is the title of a poem by Attila József, the famous Hungarian poet.
