Lágrimas Cálidas
''Lágrimas Cálidas'' (English: ''Warm Tears'') is the debut studio album by Colombian recording artist Fanny Lu, released on August 8, 2006. The record contains ten tracks, most of which were composed by Jose Gaviria, and produced with Andres Munera. Musically, the album experiments with tropipop, which is composed of the genres of vallenato, merengue, and pop music. Recording for the album took place in 2004 in three cities: Miami, Bogota and Medellin. An international version of the album, containing two remixes, was released exclusively in United States, Spain and Colombia. The album was certified gold in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador and ranked number thirteen on the ''Billboard'' Tropical Albums chart in the United States. The album earned Lu many accolades, including a Latin Grammy nomination, five ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards nominations, and three Premios Shock nominations, winning two. Fanny Lu
Fanny Lucía Martínez Buenaventura (born 8 February 1973), better known professionally as Fanny Lu, is a Colombian singer, songwriter and actress from Santiago de Cali, Colombia. She studied at the University of the Andes and received a degree in industrial engineering. She is the mother of two children, Mateo and Valentina. Fanny Lu's first job in the entertainment industry was in Colombia, as hostess to a music magazine called ''Siempre Música''. She then moved on to radio voice in the principal radio stations from her country. However, she wasn't recognized until 1998, when she made part of the cast from the Colombian soap opera ''Perro Amor''. The Latin Grammy Award for Best Tropical Song is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and creates a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. The award is reserved to the songwriters of a new song containing at least 51% of the lyrics in Spanish. Instrumental recordings or cover songs are not eligible. ''El Espectador'' (meaning "The Spectator") is a newspaper with national circulation within Colombia, founded by Fidel Cano Gutiérrez on 22 March 1887 in Medellín and published since 1915 in Bogotá. It changed from a daily to a weekly edition in 2001, following a financial crisis, and became a daily again on 11 May 2008, a comeback which had been long rumoured, in tabloid format (28 x 39.5 cm). Ballad
A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads derive from the medieval French ''chanson balladée'' or ''ballade'', which were originally "dance songs". Ballads were particularly characteristic of the popular poetry and song of Britain and Ireland from the Late Middle Ages until the 19th century. Caja Vallenata
The caja, a drum similar to a Tambora (Colombian drum), tambora, is one of the three main or traditional instruments of the Vallenato music. Caja, the slang word adopted to nickname this drum, means "box" in Spanish language, Spanish. There is also a List of Caribbean drums, Caribbean drum called ''caja'', used in the music of Colombia.
