Lyons is an Australian architecture firm based in Melbourne. Established in 1996 by brothers Corbett Lyon and Carey Lyon, they were soon joined by third brother Cameron, Neil Appleton and Adrian Stanic, and are all now directors. Lyons is known for large commercial and institutional buildings such as the RMIT Swanston Academic Building, Melbourne, the Australian Institute of Architects (Victoria), 41 Exhibition St, Melbourne, the John Curtin School of Medical Research in Canberra, the Central Institute of TAFE in Perth, the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, the School of Medicine and Menzies Research Institute in Hobart and the School of Medicine and Research in Sydney. The Lyons brothers are third generation Melbourne architects, grandsons of concrete pioneer and hotel designer Leslie M Perrott Snr, whose firm later became Perrott Lyon Mathieson. Kangan Institute is a TAFE (technical and further education) provider in Melbourne, Australia. History Kangan Institute was established as the Broadmeadows College of TAFE on 28 February 1986, when it was formally opened by Prime Minister Bob Hawke. It was originally built to cater for 3000 students at a cost of $13.5 million. It subsequently acquired a series of other campuses in its first decade, including at Avondale Heights, Essendon and Moreland. In August 1995, the institution was renamed the Kangan Institute of TAFE in honour of Myer Kangan, the founder of the TAFE system in Australia. The Lyon Housemuseum is a hybrid residence and contemporary art museum located on Cotham Road, Kew, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The Housemuseum displays the Lyon Collection of Australian contemporary art in a purpose designed building. The building is open to the public for pre-booked guided tours, school visits and other events on designated days each year.
