Lynne is an unincorporated community in Marion County, in the U.S. state of Florida. It is located along Florida State Road 40 in the western edges of Ocala National Forest. History A post office called Lynne was established in 1884, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1955. The community was probably named after Lynn, Massachusetts Lynn is the eighth-largest municipality in Massachusetts and the largest city in Essex County. State Road 40 (SR 40) is a east–west route across northern and east-central Florida, running from U.S. Route 41 (US 41) in Rainbow Lakes Estates eastwards through Ocala over the Ocklawaha River and bridge and through the heart of the Ocala National Forest to State Road A1A in Ormond Beach. The Ocala National Forest ls the second largest nationally protected forest in the U.S. State of Florida. It covers of northern Florida. It is located three miles (5 km) east of Ocala and southeast of Gainesville.
